NWR: What Do You Do?

What kind of job do you do or if you are in school, what type of degree are you working on?  What do you like about your job (or why did you pick your potential career)?

Unemployed. I like how I can sleep in and do whatever I feel like, as long as it doesn't spend money.  However, I hate having no money.

But I may have a job soon.  I'm waiting for the final decision on one job that would be a lobbying position.  Yup, I'd become one of "those" Washington lobbyists.  But it would only be for 9 months until I can go to law school.

I am currently a student studying Special Education.  In May, I'll graduate with a K-12 Special Ed license, and a K-5 Elem Ed license with a concentration in English.
A little background: When I was 15, my aunt received a 6 month old foster daughter who has a myriad of physical/intellectual and overall health issues.  She wasn't supposed to make it to her 1st birthday.  My aunt officially adopted her when she was 4, she's turning 9 in two weeks, and she's one of my flower girls. :)  Being able to work with her basically her entire life really opened my heart towards kids with special needs.  I was saved May 24, 2002, 3 months after she came into our lives.  A few months later, I felt God calling me to Special Education.  I really feel that this is what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

I will be a RN in December, I am just finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I am hoping to get hired in OB doign both post partum and L&D. I love nursing! I was saved mid-way through my second year and t first doubted whether God wanted me in nursing or not. I then entered my OB rotation and I knew that is where God wanted me. So far he has been opening doors for me to work in that area, so we will see! I eventually want to become a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.

I'm a political science and french student during the school year, and in the summer (while i'm on my break) i work for my grandfather's law firm!

ultimately, my goal is to go to law school and hopefully (eventually!) go into politics.
i'll be honest, my grandfather (who is a lawyer) and my uncle (also a lawyer) both really influenced my decision. and i just happen to have the aptitude for it! as long as God keeps opening doors for me, i'll continue on this path.

I am certified in Elementary Education, and reading with a minor in Religion.  Apparently, since I was 5, I had wanted to be a teacher (this is according to my mother).  I graduated in 2008, but have been subbing for the last year.  This past year I was the building sub (basically a substitute in one building, filling in wherever needing to). I loved this job, and am PRAYING that I will be rehired for the position for this upcoming year.  My wedding is in October, and I feel that this is the best job for me in the present situation.  I couldn't imagine being a first time, full time teacher and needing to take a week off for the wedding.  Join me in praying? :-)

Working with kids is something that I feel God gifted me with.  I have been babysitting and nannying since I was 10.  Again, I love what I do, and can't wait to get back into it.

I studied Spanish and microbiology in college.  I liked learning about all the germies that are out there.  I always enjoyed learning science.

Now I hate it--turns out, actual lab work is boring and frustrating.

I'm starting grad school in the fall to become a public librarian.  Seems like learning and reading are what I enjoy most, so bringing knowledge and books to others ought to bring me--and hopefully them--joy.

I realized today that I didn't answer my own question.  I am a Business Analyst for a mutual fund company.  Most days I like it.  The thing I like is that I'm a really logical and inquisitive person.  I like to ask questions and really understand what people need.  Then I help them build a better process or system to meet their need.

I am considering a change at work and would appreciate prayers.  I have an interview on Tuesday.

I'm working on my M.A. in Historical Theology (my thesis is going to be on the early Particular Baptists and what sort of doctrine of two kingdoms they had). My A.B. is in History (primary field: medieval Europe) with a minor in Latin.

I came to seminary to prepare for a Ph.D. program. I'm leaving seminary a married woman. I'm not going to do anything professional with my degree. My first priority as a wife is to be a wife. That's not to say that my three years at an absolutely amazing and very academically rigorous seminary will end up being a waste - Lord willing, my FH will receive a call to be a pastor, and a seminary degree, even one in H.T., will end up being helpful (Pastor's wife is NOT an office in the church, though! It'd mainly end up being helpful to my husband for me to have my degree, especially since I know Aramaic and he doesn't, so I can help him out whenever he gets around to preaching through Daniel). Plus, I can teach my kids Greek and Hebrew (and Latin) someday.

As I explained to others a few days ago, relative to government paperwork, being the girl is a pain, but relative to being the helpmeet, being the girl is just plain awesome. I get to serve my husband. I get to be the one he comes home to, the one who greets him at the end of long and difficult day of counselling, the one who greets him after a particularly arduous session meeting or presbytery. I get to be the one who makes sticky toffee pudding for him and his favourite meat pies. I get to be the one who makes his tea. That is such a joyful thought. That's what I love about my soon-to-be career of FH's helpmeet.

I love how you put this!
I've recently been studying the biblical role of a woman, and I've come to this conclusion:
First- I am a Christian and I serve God
Second- (someday) I am a wife
Third- (someday!) I am a mother
    Fourth- I am a friend
    Fifth- I am myself

And that's how I see it. My personal "career" will fall into the 5th category depending on the first four. I know some people who think it's a waste for me to go to law school and university if I may not practice for very long, but I prefer to see it as a passion of mine and (hopefully!) extra income, if needed and life circumstances allow.

I'm in my senior / fifth year of industrial design.  I go to school for 3 months, then I work full time for 3 months.
I'm currently in school until September, then I return to the work force.
Currently I work at a well-known home goods company  researching and designing home goods that I cannot afford myself.  They target the high end market ^_^ Previously I worked at a privately owned consultancy telling companies what trends they needed to incorporate into their designs.  And before that I designed Five Star binders.
My FI & I are both in the same year in school and situation.  We love what we do - it's a big part of the reason we are together.  We met in design school, so it's a huge part of our life.  He's a help to me and I'm a help to him. We hope to open our own studio one day, and I'll be his secretary / assistant designer / stay home with some kids.  That's the dream.  But probably he'll work and I'll do design work free lance when we have kids.  I enjoy what we do a lot, even if we are in different parts of the field, and he's my favorite to work with.
