Prayers Please

Hi All.  So, as you know, I've been dealing with some not fun family issues, wedding budget issues, FI's health issues, and law school.  I've been very depressed lately and have been having panic attacks.  My therapist says I probably need to go on antidepressants/anti anxiety medication.  I'm being evaluated by a psychiatrist in 10 days.  Can you please pray for me during this very difficult time?

I'd really appreciate it.

Praying for you.  I suffer a bit from anxiety as well, ajd it's no fun.  (I had to take meds just to get through the LSAT, as I kept panicking in the middle of it).  But once you find the right meds, things do improve. (I have several people close to me who take anti-depressants/anti-anxiety meds).

Wow, that is a LOT.  Medicine can help if that's the route you decide to go.  My FI takes what he calls "nerve" pills pretty much every day (in a low dose) and he has an emergency back-up pill he can boost his dose when he gets REALLY over-anxious.  He has a chemical imbalance that does that to him, so he is part of the minority of Americans who need to take pills to manage the brain's chemicals.

You can also try eating foods that have vitamin B6 which is good for you -- Lack of B6 can cause insomnia, irratability, and weakness.  The easiest food with this vitamin?  The Banana!!!   Tasty fruit to eat, it travels well, and rich in vitamins that are good for you.  I used to eat a banana before going on stage (about 45 minutes prior) and it helped calm my nerves a bit.  The potassium in bananas is good too.

I'm starting to get on more of a health kick, gradually.  I'm not a quick-change-crash-diet kind of person, so I'm starting to put more multi-vitamins, more healthy foods, etc back in my diet.  I'm finding that I feel more balanced which has helped me manage the stress I'm going through (that I try not to talk TOO much about on here).

I'll pray for you as well, and know that the Lord will carry you through this difficult time!!

I went through a very bad depression all of last year, and it is so much worse than people realize. I am finally back to my old self, without medication, but if they think you need it I strongly suggest taking it (I don't know if you are like me and averse to taking antidepressants or not - I was in real trouble and it was stupid of me not to even try it). Anyway, praying for peace and comfort and joy your way, and I know that it is coming!
