NWR- End of the world 5/21? I think not.

Hey girls. Just wanted to share with you all some of the things on my heart right now.

I don't know how it is where all of you live, but I am here in NY and a lot of people are going crazy over the "Rapture" the "End of times" the "Apocolypse" tomorrow. I truly believe in The Word "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." NIV (Matthew 24:36)

All this commotion with people being scared, other people thinking if they are doomed anyway- they can do anything they want tonight- really got me thinking and praying.

Here's what's on my heart: I find myself being distracted from God. I spend time worshipping idols (the wedding, my possesions, attitudes, I can go on and on). I am taking this time and using it as a reminder. God should be on my mind ALL the time. I need to worship HIM all the time, praise him all the time, turn to him in my distress all the time. Not just now because we're scared- but always because he is our amazing, merciful and wonderful God. It also has me reminded that, no maybe tomorrow is not the day that God comes to Earth, but then again, maybe it is- or maybe its in two days or two months. The point is- He can come at ANY time and I want to be ready for him. I need to get my act together- and really make sure I'm devoting myself to God. Not just because I wanna sucker up to Him so I make it to Heaven- but because if I am calling myself a Christian- it's how I need to live daily.

I am praying that through this- people who don't know Jesus come to have a relationship with Him. I am also praying that for me (and anyone else who feels this way) to take this as a reminder. That God should be our number one focus always. Not just when people preach the end of the world.

Let me know how you girls are handling this. I'd love to hear some more insight on the subject, how people are reacting around you, and what your feelings are.

I think you said it right.  We don't know the hour, but our minds should always be focused on Him.

You said exactly how I've been feeling today.  We need to live every day as if God was to come the next day...having him be a part of our every day lives not just because we're scared of not getting into Heaven, but because we CHOSE to be his followers and accept him as our Lord and Savior.

The end of the world could be tomorrow, but we don't know if it will be or not. :) I think you said it perfectly.

I totally agree.  I laugh at the predictions of tomorrow at 6:00 being the second coming, but we really don't know WHEN it will be.  I should focus more on my relationship with God.

ya... we need to focus on God. Not because of this silly little prediction... but because this is what we are called to do.
i feel bad for all the people who are truly and honestly freaking out over this. remember the whole y2k thing? or 6-6-06? its a scary thought to think that this could be the end times.... but we have heard this before. so i amnot to worried about it.

BUT that doesn't mean that just cuz Jesus is or isnt coming back tomorrow that we ignore it all together. the Bible is real and it talks all about it. I love the Lord with all my heart and i just want to do what He is telling me to do.... not out of a fearful heart... but out of a loving heart.

I agree! I really do need to focus more on Him! Thanks for the reminder about why we are here- to live for the Lord and serve Him- to carry out His will here on Earth and love others as He first loved us.

As for tomorrow- The signs that are going to happen before He comes back have not happened...  Matthew 24:29~ "the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken." The Bible warns us of false prophets and we can't follow them.

I've been wanting to post something just like this.  But you know I'm glad I heard about the prediction, I'm sad because of it, I'm sad that this man does not listen to the word and has convinced people that it is going to happen tomorrow.

I am happy I heard about it because I have looked at my life and at my heart and I asked the question if the rapture happened right now would I be left behind?  It has made me realize I have to get more in touch with God I have to have that intimaterelationship with him as no one knows when this will happen it can happen at any moment.

The other thing is that I am away from my Fiance and I realize how much he means to me and that I have truly made that switch that he the most important Person besides God in my life.  I thought that I want to be with my Fiance at the end of the world he is the one person I want to be with at that moment in time. In the past I would have wanted to be with my mom and dad.

I am also saddened by all of those who have given this man all they own thinking that tomorrow will be the end that does make me sad.

You posted the same verse I have been quoting. I also refer people to the various verses that state he will come like a thief in the night. All this prediction hooplah is getting ridiculous. I mean, we should of course be prepared, but not in the sense of literally marking it on the calendar. According to scripture, we can never know for sure when. I guess these people speculating are going off other verses that talk about all the atrocities that are supposed to happen prior to the second coming, but eh, I'm not a fan. Plus, I like surprises better. They are way more fun. =D

These are all great thoughts and I have been thinking the same things.  I think that in some respects it has caused people (believers in Christ and non-believers) to think about their lives and what will happen if/when Christ returns (I say "if" because that's the mindset of an unbeliever).  It is good for people to contemplate this and realize that they need to be ready.

I recently read a lot of the book called "Heaven is For Real" and it has made me so excited to be in Heaven with God.  I think sometimes that there are things I want to do here on Earth before getting to Heaven but the only thing I should really want is to have opportunities to bring others to Christ.  Hopefully all of this talk will open dialogue between believers and unbelievers so that Christ can be glorified.

Oh look it is tomorrow, no rapture, what a Surprise.  ;)  I really like all of your points.  I firmly believe in the verse, no man knows the place or hour (it goes something like that) and therefore don't spend much time worrying about it.  Thank you for the reminder to keep focused on God at all times.

Great comments here and an undeniable truth...we should live like He is coming tomorrow, offering our lives as living sacrifice for His Honor and Glory!!!

I'm really blessed by everything in this post.  The fact that we can all take something so crazy from the world and use it to refocus our lives on God is just awesome.
