Compassion Child

H and I had been wanting to sponsor a child through Compassion for awhile now and we finally took the step and found a child through our church's partnership with a church in Uganda. She is an adorable little girl and we are so excited to get to know her! I just wanted to share my excitement with you girls! Does anyone else sponsor a child through Compassion or some other organization?

Re: Compassion Child

  • We used to.  We've since switched to helping children in our own area through Friends of the Children.
  • We used to as well but now we are trying something new!

I do love sponsoring them though! I hope you enjoy your time getting to know her!

  • I sponser a child in Bolivia through Compassion.  I love getting letters from him and watching him grow!
  • I sponsored a child through the last part of highschool and most of college. Unfortunately, I had to quit, but my fiance and I are already talking about sponsoring a child together as soon as we are able.

  • That is amazing!!! I have always wanted to do that Laughing What a wonderful gift for that child!
  • The H and I support a little boy in Ecuador through Compassion. Have been supporting him for about 2 years now... he is such a cutie and I love hearing about how he is doing! When we first started sponsoring him, he was 5 and his mother/tutor would write his letters for him, but now he is older and writing them himself! So great to witness his growth!
  • Thanks girls! It's so nice to hear your stories, too!   Smile
  • I sponsor 2 boys through Watoto Childcare Ministries based in Uganda.  I got to meet one of them when I was there 3 years ago!  It was such an amazing experience. My FI sponsors a little girl though there also :)
  • We sponsor 3 children through Compassion. I have sponsored two of them since 2003. They were both born in 1996 and live in Kenya. In 2007 I got to meet them in Nairobi. It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. I love to hear from them and get new pictures to see how they are growing. I plan to sponsor them through the end of the program (assuming they both continue in the program) and that would be until they are 21.

We also sponsor a boy in the Dominican Republic (since last summer). Joe writes to him and it is so sweet to see him take an interest in it. He is 5 years old so I would imagine we'll sponsor him for another 16 years.

Compassion does such an amazing thing for these children. And they do a great job of keeping you informed and involved in the childrens' lives.
