Faith reminders

How do you remind yourself to improve whatever you're struggling with to be a better Christian?

I've been trying to have a more positive attitude and act more friendly. I feel like I don't have that "glow" that some Christians have, where you can nearly see that they're on fire for Christ, and I just wish I could be radiating God's love the way they do.

I put up a little sticky note at work that says, "Shine your light so all can see it, shine your light cuz the whole world needs it," from the Crowder band song. Hoping that helps. I really want my attitude to bring people to Christ (Matt5.16)

Maybe you wear a cross or a ring or WWJD/HWJB bracelet... Any other remnders?

I have to remind myself all the time to be more positive and to stop complaining so much (especially to myself when I'm at work on in traffic!). After I do it, I'm always like "Oh man.. I'm better than this!" and I pray and ask God to help me be more of a positive person and to not let the little things bother me as much. It helps, and I'm seeing a difference, but I definitely still have more work to do ;0)

My sister acts as my faith reminder... She is not saved and not a believer. I so want to witness to her and help her see God's love and mercy. Every time I am around her- I am so conscious of everything I say and do (as I should be all the time) to be that light for her.... I'm trying. I need to keep that kind of attitude and excitement all the time.
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do... I love you Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I have been feeling convicted lately to do more for people in the world who are suffering from starvation, disease, slavery, etc.  I was given a dry kidney bean and it is in my wallet with my coins.  When I open my wallet to spend money frivolous, I am reminded of the people that are in need and it usually stops me from spending.  I feel like if I don't spend on those things, I will have more to give (financially).

I could really use something that does the same thing for me spiritually - encouraging me to spend time in prayer and in the Word.  I'll have to work on that.

Lisa, I love the kidney bean thing! Great idea!

Anytime I find myself not being who the Lord has called me to be, I pray. I also read my Bible and pray with H. I have a Bible verse hanging on the mirror where I get ready, one on the fridge, a couple plaques in my house and a tattoo on the back of my shoulder with a verse. At work (during the school year) I have a star-shaped post-it note taped to my desk that says "You are with me". Since I teach at a public school, I can't put a Bible verse on there (separation of church and state- ugh), but "You are with me" helps me to remember He is there always.

Girls, I love all of these suggestions!

I too struggle with not being as positive, uplifting, and bright as Christ calls me to be. I need to start being aware of my negative attitude and sometimes not uplifting words (spoken mostly to my mother).

starx- I love the quote you posted!! I may have to write that down!

Lisa- I love love love the kidney bean.

Thank you for starting this thread; it itself serves as a faith reminder!

Yeah when I find myself being unpleasant I stop and pray for "love joy peace patience kindness good gentleness faithfulness and self control"... But I wish I could stop myself BEFORE I lose it! But I guess that's what Paul is talking about in Romans 7:14-25 Thanks Faithcaitlin! You should listen to the song--"shine (SMS)" by David crowder band. It's a really cool music video too. Should be able to find it on YouTube. A similar song I enjoy is "shine" by newsboys
