Hey everyone!
So i dont come on TK too much anymore since my wedding was back in April, but I found this board a little while ago and wanted to say I am so happy that it is here- because I actually emailed TK asking if they could create it back when i was planning my wedding! lol.
I heard back from them that
they can't implement every idea they receive, but they would hold onto mine for the next time they did improvements, and that if they saw a lot of brides would want this kind of board, they would try to find a way to add it.
Sooo I'm wondering- were any of you involved in getting this board started?? PS in case you're interested, this is the email i wrote, lol...i developed a whole argument for why they should add this kind of board, haha;-)
"I'm writing to ask if you might think about adding another board to your list of "Cultural Wedding Boards." I noticed that you have Catholic, Jewish and Muslim weddings listed, but nothing for Protestant/Christian/evangelical weddings. Now, I do recognize that might be because you kind of figure that there are just so many Knottie weddings that would fit into that category that it isn't really a specific "cultural" thing but rather just
the way it is for a majority of American brides, but I would beg to differ. At least specifially within evangelical Christianity, there is most certainly a "culture" represented (for some good examples of what i mean, you could check out
the satire blog "
Stuff Christians Like' or
the magazine/webzine
Relevant.) And there is most definitely a specific evangelical culture for weddings, too-
the ceremony is very different from a Catholic Mass but is not like a simple secular exchange of vows, whether or not to have alcohol at
the reception is a huge, huge issue, - you could even go into things like
the fact that premarital sex and cohabitation are not
the norms at all in evangelical culture as compared to
the wider secular society.
So yeah, there's my little treatise for why I think it would be a good idea to open up a new board for evangelical weddings. I think there would be some brides out there who would really benefit from finding an online community of girls like them planning evangelical weddings."
