cake table ideas

I need ideas for decorating my cake table. I'm going pretty simple with the decorations. My cake will be pretty small so I want to decorate the table in a way that will draw attention to the cake but not overwhelm it. 

The cake will look like this but it will be only two tiers, the flowers will be purple and I'm not sure what I will put one top, but it definitely won't be that ribbon!

We kept ours really smple. We had a few votive candles and rose petals around the cake, and the cake cutting tools and small plate on the table. I may have pictures in my bio...

I made cake table letters that said "We Do" and we had a few votives, rose petals, and our cake server set.

I spray painted the letters gold and glued pearls along the edges.

Mine was really simple.  I just had my bridesmaids put their bouqets around the cake.  It looked really nice, as the flowers on the cake and the flowers in the bouquets were both pink.

This is what I am doing as well. I have also seen other brides put up their mothers picture from her wedding and a picture of their FMIL from her wedding day.

Candles would be cute. Simple, but adding a romantic glow to the table. We'll probably use old photos to decorate ours. We're using photos from weddings of our parents and grandparents.

I think some purple rose petals or flower buds from your bouquets with little purple paper confetti (like we had in my photo below, not so small they're a pain to clean up but smaller than petals) spread around the table with 4-6 votives would be nice.  I got my jar of paper coloured flowers at Michaels with a 40% off coupon.

Here's ours.  Cake is on a stand we borrowed from the florist.  Napkins, knife and server, and the small vase of flowers.
