Recently the Pope came out saying that Catholic couples should not use infertility treatment to "artificially" create a child. I take that to mean he's cool with things like Clomid that simply trigger ovulation, but not ok with IVF, IUI, etc.
Personally, I think if the church is going to be against artificial birth control they need to be against artificial procreation as well. I think I kind of agree with him, but since I am ok with artificial birth control, I feel like a hypocrite saying I'm against IVF and IUI. On the other hand, I can see where you might compare IUI and IVF to terminating a pregnancy rather than preventing a pregnancy whereas the drugs to trigger ovulation would be more like hormonal birth control.
Any thoughts?
