Invites out!!

I sent them yesterday! And I've already had some in-town guests tell me they got them! That's not the USPS I know... :P Unfortunately, they're not 100% off my to-do list because FI has still not been able to get in touch with an aunt and uncle to get their address... still trying, and hoping they won't be offended by a late invite...

Also, the in-laws have just told me the date they need a head count for the rehearsal dinner, and it is two weeks before the RSVP deadline on the response cards. Have your guests typically been responding quickly, or waiting until the last minute?

Expect your invites to trickle in. When we sent ours out, we got a whole bunch back in the first 2 weeks. But it really depends on the specific people you invited. A lot of my church members don't understand the concept of an RSVP and we had to make calls to get a final head count. Do you know who is invited to the rehearsal dinner? Find out and if you haven't heard from those guests by the deadline, call and apologize, explaining that you need a head count for the rehearsal dinner super early. Most people will have just forgotten to send in their RSVP and will tell you a definite yes or no.

Are your rehearsal invites included in the wedding invite?  I've never seen that done before!  It is kind of nice to kill two birds with one stone though.

Also, I can't help you much cause I don't remember much from when the RSVPs were rolling in, other than I remember that getting the invites in the mail was both a huge relief and completely terrifying at the same time.  That, and I loved getting phone calls from my mom about which RSVPs they'd gotten in the mail that day.  I do think it took 2 or 3 weeks for them to really pick up and I seem to remember the week or so before the RSVP date was when we got most of them...I think.

When my brother and SIL got married, my parents (groom's parents) hosted the rehearsal dinner and it was on a separate invite and response card.  Maybe that could work for you as well.  Or just call everyone in the WP and make sure, then call any extras who you are inviting to the RD who aren't in the WP.  :-)

It's just one RSVP, I suppose the assumption was that the people on the rehearsal dinner list who are in fact coming will also come to the dinner. It's a bit late to fetch and send out rehearsal dinner invites (the deadline would be May 1), so I suppose we'll have to do a verbal check-up. There are a lot of out-of-town guests we've invited, not just WP.

It's never too late!!  :P  I sent some invitations out with a deadline of two weeks later and while I still don't have invitations back..........they got them at least.  I'm working with the assumption that the people who haven't responded are coming and going from there.  It's ok for us because we don't HAVE to have a specific head count.

My RSVP's came in waves.  One day I got like 6, the next 10 days I didn't get anything.  It's definitely exciting!!
