unique first dance song

Hi there! We’re 23 days away from our wedding and we have yet to choose a first dance song! We’ve got a few ideas, but none of them are “it” and I was hoping I could get some help from you guys…

 

Here’s the contenders:

 

Umbrella (acoustic) – Plain White T’s

Your Guardian Angel – Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Far Away – Nickelback

Life After You – Daughtry

 

The first is kinda slow to dance to, the second has a climax that includes lots of guitar, the third one doesn’t apply (the far away part) and the fourth is sort of a break up song.

 

We like top 40s from the radio, but more pop/rock. Some of the best songs are break up or love lost songs so it’s hard. Trying to stay away from the Savage Gardens and Micheal Buble J

    Hmmm....Seems like you have a lot of the same tastes as me. I really like Life After You and I don't really take it as a break-up song....We also have Guardian Angel as a contender.

    There is always 1234 by the plain white tees....kinda over played though. Pretty song though. ....A Twist in My Story by Secondhand Serenade is a cool song.

    Does your DJ have a list of First Dance songs? .....My dj gave me a doc of 19 pages with First dance songs! Haha. I'll list a few that seem like your taste...

    ---Jack Johnson-Angel
    ---Howie Day - Collide. ....I love this song and it is was orginally going to be the some I walked down the aisle to....now i think it will just be in the processional...but its a good one
    ---Lifehouse - first time

    This is one of the hardest parts, I swear. My only advice is just to choose the one that feels right.

    We have two contenders on like, two ends of the spectrum:

    "Can't Help Falling In Love" - Elvis
    "Shattered" - Remy Zero

    My FI says not to make too big a deal out of it and choose one of the 4 songs. I think the last 2 are out, so it's between Umbrella and Your Guardian Angel. Any thoughts on that?

    Check out "First day of my Life" by Bright Eyes.  I've loved that song for years, and when FI proposed I knew it was the only song I wanted for our first dance (though FI tried to convince me to have a supertramp song, um, no).

    I really wanted to dance to "Your Guardian Angel" but my fiance refuses - he thinks the song is too sad and that no one would recognize it. Back to square one I guess! Good luck!
