Ceremony Readings

Hi there! I've been lurking here for a few days. I have gotten some great ceremony music ideas from you ladies. I also need ideas for ceremony readings. We haven't really planned out anything yet in regards to our ceremony. I would like to have one or two readings. Can you share any ideas? Or point me in the direction to start looking? LoL, I just don't know where to start. Thanks! Smile

Also, if we ask my grandmother to do a reading (she was the only Christian influence in my life growing up) is it rude not to ask FI's grandmother to do a reading?

    We had 1 Corinthians 13 and Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 in our wedding.

    Here is an older post where we talked about scriptures if it may give you some ideas:

    No, I don't think it's rude to ask just your grandma to do a reading and not FI's grandma. She plays an important role in your life and you want to honor her. Have you thought about asking your grandma to choose passages to read? just a thought.

    I really like this poem it's called Marriage Takes Three

    Marriage takes three to be complete;
    It’s not enough for two to meet.

    They must be united in love by love’s Creator,
    God above.

    Then their love will be firm and strong;
    Able to last when things go wrong.

    Because they’ve felt God’s love and know
    He’s always there. He will never go.

    And they have both loved Him in kind
    with all the heart and soul and mind;

    And in love they’ve found the way
    to love each other every day.

    A marriage that follows God’s plan
    takes more than a woman and a man.

    It needs a oneness that can be
    Only from Christ-marriage takes three.

    I love kalizoomba's poem! goes along with iamjoesgurl's passage from Ecclesiastes (which we used too).

    You could incorporate "God's Knot" into your ceremony during this!

    We also had Ephesians 5:21-31
