I have a prayer request for myself. 

I suffer from bad chronic headaches. Here lately they have been flaring up a lot worse then they usually do. For example. I have had a headache since Saturday and it has not gone away. The bad thing is, nothing I take touches it. I have it from when I get up, to when I go to bed. 

My PCP has put me on a new preventative medicine and if after a month or so, things aren't better, she wants to refer me to a specialist. I have been able to "hide" them from DH before we lived together but now that we are living together, he sees how much pain I am in day to day and he is getting worried. I guess I am just asking for some reliief and for some answers. Thanks.

I shall pray for you.  I have chronic migraines. It's so not fun having headaches.  I am so sorry.  I hope your preventative medicine starts to work.  I know sometimes it can take awhile for things like that to kick in, but I hope it kicks in quickly for you.  Please keep us updated on here.  Feel better soon!

That sounds bad.  My guess is that this heat wave is making it worse?  I highly recommend seeing a specialist for these things.  I was a horrible migraine sufferer in high school, and I was stuck with a nurse practioner who didn't do a great job finding the right meds for me.  It wasn't until I saw a doctor in neurology that I got prescribed the meds that I am still on to this day.  They also have great meds out there apparently for getting rid of migraines once you get them and Motrin/Ibuprofen/Aleve won't do the trick.  My dad takes something that helps him (he has severe headaches), but it was way too strong for me and made me super drowzy.  If nothing else works, ice kind of helps me, but it won't get rid of them.  Feel better!

Oh, and if you're constantly taking over the counter stuff, it could be rebound headaches, if no one has mentioned that.  My husband occassionally gets really severe migraines, too, and one time he ended up in urgent care and they gave him a shot that made the headache go away.

Going to see a specialist doesn't sound like a bad idea if you're in that much pain.

Praying for you!  Has your pcp given you a neuro exam?  (check reflexes, eyes, and a few other things, I think)  Are you staying hydrated?  Eating regularly?  I was told to start tracking my food to see if there were any trends there.  Had already ruled out hormonal since my mirgraines happen all month and I'm on BC, so my hormone levels aren't all over the place.  I'm still trying to get my MRI scheduled.

DH put his foot down (in a good way and I am going to see my PCP tomorrow because I still have the headache. Thanks for all the support and prayers.

Sorry to hear this! I will pray! I had a bad headache all day today and I can't imagine having that for days on end. Let us know how the appointment goes! Hope you are feeling better!!
