NWR-What is wrong with me??

Lately, I have been feeling "odd" and like I don't understand why we are all here on earth and what is our purpose. I feel like I am never going to be a good enough person and I am scared to go to hell. I feel guilty and selfish when I do anything for myself. Do any of you ever feel like this? It has been consuming my thoughts lately. I hate feeling so "not normal". Thanks for listening.

I recommend diving head first into God's word and using Rick Warren's book "The Purpose-Drive Life" as a guide to get through this, if you have some time you can set aside every day.  Do some praying, and figure out what God wants for you.

I went through a time in my life about a year ago, and again about 3 years ago where everything seemed to be changing, my job, my home, my daily life, my relationships, etc.  God sometimes designs these times of uncertainty so that you will turn to HIM for your purpose and to find your center.

God loves you.  You know the story about footprints in the sand?  Well, you know what?  I bet when you let yourself rely on God to get you through this, you'll soon discover that there is only 1 set of footprints in the sand during this time of your life because HE is carrying you through it.

As my pastor has often said, "let go, and let God."  He can handle it.

Cast all your cares upon Him, and lay all of your burdens down at His feet
Anytime you don't know what to do, you should cast all your cares upon Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6)

If you have a pastor or church friends you can talk to, make sure to let them know that you need their support.  You don't have to detail what is going on if you don't want to share too much (I'm very private about this stuff too), but if you'll clue them in, they can help you get through it, and they'll probably pray that you find your center again... I know I will be praying for you, and for peace in your situation!

I was going to suggest reading The Purpose Driven Life, too! My fiance and I are reading it right now and it is AMAZING! Set aside time everyday to read it. It also helps if you find someone else to read it, too. That way, you can discuss it everyday and share your thoughts. It will really change your perspective.

God loves you SO MUCH that he sent his son to save you. That's reason to celebrate! I will say a prayer that you discover your purpose.

    Here's a song as inspiration:
    Twila Paris
    "God is in Control"

This is no time for fear
This is a time for faith and determination
Don't lose the vision here, carried away by the motion
Hold on to all that you hide in your heart
'cause there is one thing that has always been true
    It holds the world together!

    God is in control!
We believe that his children will not be forsaken
    God is in control!
He will chose to remember and never be shaken
There is no power above or beside him we know, oh,
God is in control!  Oh, God is in control!

(That's just the first verse... the video I pulled up has some inspirational things on the video too).

You are a child of God and he treats you like a princess if you'll just lay in his arms and let him.  Turn to the Lord.  I know that I struggled a LOT getting to the point where I could even say those words or even feel them.  And I still struggle sometimes.  My perfectionist attitude has caused me to second-guess things that the Lord has guided me to, and I have paid dearly for that.  I know I only have the job I have right now because HE put me there and HE is helping me to be successful.

One of my favorite lines from this song:
"He is still the loving Father, watching over you and me"
