What did you get- Groom's Gift

What did you get your man to celebrate your wedding day?? I'd love to hear some ideas :-)

Well, my idea is kind of creative/untraditional. My FI and I are not really into gifts that much, we really prefer things that are more sentimental/creative. So I was thinking for a long time what sort of thing to do for him. Then I read this blog about how the wedding night is like opening a box of legos, and learning to build things together ( http://www.focusonlinecommunities.com/community/marriage/youngmarried/blog/2009/11/13/sex-and-legos) . I thought that was the coolest idea. So then I thought, hey for his gift I will buy a box of legos and then write different Scripture references on each piece relating to marriage, sex, Christ's forgiveness, etc. to represent the building blocks of our marriage. It's not really practical, but I think he will really love it.

I hope no one thinks I'm totally weird!

Haha, that's actually really neat. And honestly, I'd be curious on some of the scripture references you chose! If you don't mind sharing :-)

When we were cake shopping we went to a bakery that did cakes with lots of different mousses.  They said that they would charge $250 for delivery and there was no way we were paying that, but DH had his heart set on chocolate cake with orange creamsicle mousse from this bakery.  So I surprised him by getting a 10 inch round cake shaped and decorated like a basketball with the chocolate cake and orange creamsicle mousse.  His aunt picked it up for us and he was surprised that I had gotten it.  He's a hard person to buy for so I did this in lieu of a gift he could keep.

I read a book called "When God Writes Your Love Story" when I was in highschool. Since then I've been writing "Love notes" to my future husband, not knowing who he was. Now that I know I can make them even more special. So this will be one thing I give him. Although I"ve always pictured giving it to him on our plane on the way to our honeymoon and not the wedding night.

For the wedding day present I'm not sure yet. I want to get him something I know he'll use/want...

No gifts.  We've already spent loads of money on the wedding, so we are writing to each other in a nice card.

We bought each others' rings, and agreed those would be our "gifts" to each other.  I think marrying each other is present enough!

I gave him a boudoir album which was actually a lot of fun even though I was very nervous before the shoot. DH and I had said no gifts, but a bunch of girls on my local did this for their DH's and highly recommended it. DH loved it, and he feels so special that it's just for him. I included a hand written note that I wrote the day of the wedding. He sent over a long stemmed rose and a handwritten note to the bridal suite which I thought was so cute and sweet of him. I saved the rose as a momento.

I bought my FI a gorgeous sterling silver double sided Celtic Cross. I will have it delivered to him as he gets ready on the day of the wedding. I will also include a note...

I will be having my uncle who is a great woodcraftsman reproduce the cross I'm giving FI  in oak as a cross to sit on the altar and later it will be in our home.

I have hired a bagpiper as a suprise to him for the Recessional and Cocktail hour. He will be so excited when they enter.
