I had wanted to write this up since Saturday night service, but the only time I've had internet is for a little bit at work (working on school stuff) and at FH's house (spending time with FH...). So I thought I'd share it now.
Our pastor spoke on Joshua 4 last weekend. It was a very short message because he wanted to focus on something else. In this passage is when the Israelites carry the stones representing each tribe and build a monument to mark where they crossed with the ark. When we entered the service, we were given a brick (one per family). Then the pastor spoke shortly on the significance of this passage and that we were going to be building an monument that would make people stop and ask "What is that?" and each family would place a brick that would represent the promises of God and the burdens we have been delivered from. Then they played worship music and each family went up and placed their bricks, which created the shape of a cross. This monument is going to be placed outside the church building. It was a very emotional experience, and then particulary for me because FH and I were only given one brick (one per family...!) and it was the first time we were recognized as a family. It was just a really great message and thought I would share.
