Friend's Brother in ICU

(I'll c&p this to the prayer request thread, too)

Just got a text from one of my bridesmaids that her brother (he's 29) is headed to ICU right now with breathing problems. 

She said: "He's intubated and heavily sedated and they don't have a lot of answers, but they used the term 'respiratory failure.'  They said it could be days or weeks before he can come off the vent."

Her brother is significanlty obese and she and her family have become increasingly worried about his health the last few years.  His name is Jason if you prefer to pray for people by name.

Thanks for the prayers.  Keep them coming.  They've weaned him down to 60% oxygen and he is "doing well."  Still intubated & sedated, though.

Thanks for the prayers.  The doctors are "cautiously optimistic."  He started waking up "without permission" Monday afternoon, but they're planning on keeping him sedated until at least Friday to give his lungs time to heal.  They still don't know what happened, but the cardiologist did say there hasn't been any damage to his heart.

I don't know if it's any solice, but people generally ARE sedated when they are intubated, so that's why he's not supposed to be waking up.  It's great that they've been able to cut back on his oxygen.  Praying for him.

My mom is an ER nurse and my dad is a paramedic, so I know that people are usually sedated (<~ that's not supposed to sound snarky).  Apparently, he woke up while on the sedation medication, which he wasn't supposed to do, so they were quick to fix that.  He's been waking up off and on today but has gone right back to sleep.  His mom said he was moving his hands today, and they've cut his O2 back to 40%.  He was at 60% yesterday.
