Inspiring Messages

Any inspiring messages you've heard recently?  Could be from a pastor, from your reading, Word of God, music, etc?

Mine today has to do with building a home.  I know we hear the verses a lot, but the pastor said it in a way that struck me today: We must look to the Lord to build our home.  A home that is not watched over by the Lord is like a house built on the sand.  He is our provider, comforter, strength, and upon HIM we can build a home as upon the rock.

Last week the pastor preached on the blessing of being single, and part of that was aimed to comfort singles in our church who are having trouble focusing on God because of wanting to find "the one" (and I was one of them for a LOONNG time), and part of that was aimed at the rest of the church congregation to appreciate the blessings that a single person can provide in a church.  I think we get to hear part 3 of the "How to build a solid home" next week.

That was long, but that's my inspiration today!!

Im visiting FI this weekend and his pastor preached a really good message this morning. It was about the four kinds of love mentioned in the bible. He talked about growing closer to God and experiencing HIS love so we could love our spouses and children the way He intended for us. It really got me to thinking about being the wife (and someday-far away mother lol) that God has called me to be :)

Nothing really struck me from today at church, but here's something beautiful I read (from Sayings of the Desert Fathers, basically oral traditions left from the first saints... a classic in Orthodox Christianity).

One monk in Egypt went out into the desert to pray.  He turned his back to the setting sun, opening up his arms.  He stayed like and prayed throughout the night until the morning, when sun came over the horizon and lit up his face.

On K Love today the girl was talking about how much God loves us and even if you don't have a valentine and you feel like no one loves you, God thinks you are beautiful and loves you so much that he made the ultimate sacrifice for you. No valentine can be better than that! (I don't remember her exact wording, but it was one of those me-nodding-my-head-in-agreement things).
