hi :):)

Hey! I've been kind of lurking on this board and have never posted anything BUT I just HAD to tell you all about something great my FI and I just did. Last weekend we participated in a pre-marital retreat called Prepare to Last. It was so fabulous! I really felt like it was/is a great way to start for a christian marriage and family. I had to share this with you all and tell you all to check it out (only if you want!!) because it will definitely be a weekend I think back on a lot through my marriage!!!

I want to hear more about your Prepare to Last seminar... we're doing pre-marital counseling with our pastor but we just want to make sure we're super-prepared for the marriage.  As our pastor told us, a lot of people spend a lot of time and money preparing for the wedding but not so much for the marriage.  We're trying to focus our attention on the marriage part now!! :-)

Wow! You are all so sweet!! I'd be happy to tell ya'll more about the retreat!
It's one weekend long, Friday afternoon - Sunday afternoon.
The retreat I went to was at Winshape at Berry College in Rome, GA (but the Prepare to Last people-Jeff & Debby McElroy- travel ALL over so they may have other locations)
We had to take a Couple's check-up assessment prior to the retreat that detailed our thoughts/feelings on all kinds of things (finances, family planning, conflict resolution, sex & intimacy, communication, marital expectations, etc.). When we arrived at the retreat we were given a nice packet with workbooks, dvds, & Cds that followed along with all the sessions for the weekend. We sat through a few sessions a day (they were SO informative and the speakers are an Amazing, funny, so-in-love, christian couple). They also had cool games and activities that correlated with the lessons (communication games, ropes course, etc.). They also set up a picnic lunch for us to take with our sweeties and a date night that included a candle lit dinner and a "walking date" that led you around the campus of retreat and asked you to reflect on certain things as a couple (really fun & sweet).
I hope that gives you all a good snap shot of what the weekend was like! It was really great for taking a step back from wedding planning and take a moment to plan a marriage!

    :)
