1.  How long have you been engaged?
As of today, EXACTLY 18 months!

2.  How did your FI/DH propose?
He proposed on his birthday, the only "special day" I wasn't going to guilt trip him about proposing after 5 1/2 years together.  He proposed after we came home from dinner at a Steak Restaurant in Bellevue.  He opened his presents, he said there was one more present that needed to be opened, but it was for both of us.  He left me sitting on a chair in the livingroom, and went into our bedroom and got the ringbox from his side of the closet.  Then he came back to the livingroom and got on one knee, and the rest is history!  I don't remember AT ALL what he said, and neither does he

3.  What kind of cut is your e-ring stone?
It is a Round Cut diamond.

4.  What kind of wedding dress do/did you want before you started dress shopping?
I wanted an all lace, full A-Line dress with a V-Neck and no Train and no beading.

5.  What kind of dress did you end up with?
An all lace and tulle ballgown with spaghetti straps and a 6-8 foot long train, and a whole lot of beading in the bodice and scattered throughout the skirt.

6.  How many dresses did you try on?  Estimate if necessary.
Probably somewhere around 15 dresses total.

7.  How many venues did you look at before you signed your contract with the venue chose?
Three

8.  How many photogs did you meet with before you signed a contract with the photog you chose?
Two, both were really popular with this board and had good reviews, so I didn't have to research too many.

I asked my OOT MOH, I've known her for about 20 years (since we were in 1st Grade).

Just one, last summer.

It made me want to have my BMs all in different styles of BM dresses.  I am super busty and the dress that all the BMs in the wedding I was in had to wear was a short, strapless dress, and I was showing HELLA cleavage.  So my girls got to pick a style of dress that complimented their body type.

I got some bridal mags, DIY books, and ceremony readings books

14.  Do you generally like your FMIL/FFIL?
For the most part, but I am happy that they live on the other side of the country.

15.  Do you have any FSILs or FBILs?
1 FSIL

16.  What is your relationship like with your FSILs/FBILs?
She's 6 years older than me, so we kind of have a generation gap. But we get along for the most part.  I do wish SHE didn't live on the other side of the country.

17.  Have your FMIL/FFIL met your parents yet?
FMIL met my parents for the first time last year in March.

18.  If so, what was the encounter like?  i.e. in a restaurant, at FILs home, lunch, dinner, etc
We brought her up to check out the venue and see where I grew up.  And we stopped by my mom's house and chatted for a bit, both of my parents happened to be there that time/day.

19.  How did you introduce your FI to your parents?
It was the day he picked me up to drive us to Canada for NYE in 2006 (I was 20 then and couldn't go to the bars here).  We went to a restaurant to eat dinner with my parents near my hometown.

20.  How were you introduced to your FI's parents?
We flew to their house during Spring Break 2005, and stayed with them for a week.  We had been dating for about a year at that point, and I guess his mom really wanted to meet me and make sure I wasn't some stupid skank

A couple days shy of four months.
2.  How did your FI/DH propose?
We were at my grandma's house on Christmas eve. After everyone had opened all of their gifts, my mom announced to my family that there was one more gift to open. He got down on one knee and proposed. My uncle got it all on video. 
3.  What kind of cut is your e-ring stone?
My original e-ring was all round cut, but my current one has round cut and princess cut.
4.  What kind of wedding dress do/did you want before you started dress shopping?
Right now I want an a-line with a dropped waist and some beading.
5.  What kind of dress did you end up with?
Haven't purchased one yet.

Circumstances haven't been right to try on any dresses yet.

So far haven't looked at any, been too busy. Have done a ton of research though, and have narrowed it down to a half-dozen.

We have a coworker who also has a photog business on the side. We both love her work and it was assumed from the beginning that she'll be doing our wedding.

I asked my very closest friend (since the 6th grade) to be my MOH. It was a nerve-wracking two weeks waiting for the letter/card to make it halfway across the world to get to her. FI asked his close friend to be his BM, at work...so not special, but that's men for ya...

Somewhat. Her wedding was completely different from what I envision mine to be like.

Both my mom and FFIL stayed at our house for four days during FI birthday celebration week.

Took him with me to a pig roast.

We took the 8 hour road trip to stay at his parents house for a week. So it was just showing up at their doorstep and introductions.

We went to Napa for my birthday. Day started out with hot air balloon ride, champagne brunch, then we went wine tasting. We stopped at a winery where he proposed!

I was thinking something with slight off the shoulder straps, but when I tried it on, it just didn't look right on me. Still think the look is beautiful, but I went a different way.

Strapless, sweetheart neckline, A-line with asymmetric ruching, and beading details.

We only looked at one!

Ha! I didn't "meet" with any. Talked with 2 over the phone, and went with the one who had amazing reviews!

I asked my MOH. Her and I met while we were both living in Europe. Best long distance friendship.

Not so much what to include or not, but the whole idea of "don't sweat the small stuff!" Even though there may have been some Oops moments, nobody but the WP knew!

I have one wedding flower magazine, and two bridal books.

FMIL gave me a wedding planner (which I didn't use ).

They are so wonderful! I got very lucky!

I have a great relationship with both. FSIL took a bit longer to warm up, but it was probably hard for her to "let go" of her big brother...

The encounter was awesome. We joked and referred to it as Meet the Fockers! My parents and g'parents came out to Florida for Thanksgiving at FILs house! They get along so well!!

Ha!! FI flew out to Seattle. He was coming from NC, and I was coming from DC. We were supposed to meeting in Denver and fly in on the same flight. His first flight was delayed, and he was rerouted to Amarillo, then Denver, the Las Vegas (were he slept in the airport). I introduced him as he walked into my parents house! 

20.  How were you introduced to your FI's parents?

FI had finished TBS in Quantico, and his family was having a congratulatory dinner for him. I met is parents, g'parents, siblings, cousins, and some other folk.

Sweetheart neckline, satin, embellishments.

Pretty much the same except organza instead of satin (way too heavy!)  And the design at the bottom is something I probably never would have picked before I tried it on.  And I didn't think I would get a corset dress, but I loved how flattering it was!

Probably about 8?

7.  How many venues did you look at before you signed your contract with the venue chose?
Just one.  I browsed a ton online, but we had a pretty strict budget and had a friend who got us a member discount at ours, so I didn't want to go to any others and get my hopes up!

Just one. She's a friend of my sisters, so it was a no-brainer.

I guess my MOH, who is also my twin sister, but she already knew/blackmailed me into picking her

None!  Either I have no friends, or am just the first of mine to get married It makes me so sad that I have never experienced it from that sad, and I feel like i have NO clue what I'm doing!

Man, I can't answer that one.  What I will say though is that I'm glad I've lurked on the knot enough to know some of the things NOT to do.

My sister bought me a planner, and then I bought myself all the magazines.

I love her to death, but have to admit she can drive me crazy.  We need a little more distance I think

I have two FSIL's, one is married, so I guess that makes him my FBIL.  FI also has two half sisters who are younger than me, but they live on the East Coast so we don't see them much, and it's kind of a complicated situation.

We are pretty close and get along really well.  I am 8-10 years younger than them, so there is a little generation gap and they both have kids, but we still make it work.  They are both BM's.  FBIL Is my FI's BM, so obviously they get along really well.

17.  Have your FMIL/FFIL met your parents yet?
FMIL has met my parents.  FFIL hasn't yet.  As far as I know he's not coming to the wedding, so I have no idea if they ever will meet.

FI and I bottled wine for the wedding with my parents and FMIL.  It was pretty laid back, we went for happy hour afterwards.

We went to dinner with them a few months after FI and I started dating (it got serious pretty fast).

FMIL and FSIL came over to FI's house for a game (maybe it was apple cup--not really sure) not long after we started dating.  I met FFIL and his wife and FI's half sisters this summer when they were in town.

He proposed on my birthday along the Ruston Way waterfront at sunset with M&M's.  He'd been giving me some all day that said "Happy Birthday" then offered me more at the water but they were a different color and had "Will you marry me" on them.  His original plan was to propose on the tall ship we'd sailed on that day but they were in his coat pocket and he didn't take his coat.

It was on Valentine's Day and we stopped by to see my mom (she was in an adult living home and dad is deceased).  She was in bed, the room smelled and she wasn't very aware of things.  The day before he had told me he loved me and I guess he does because he didn't  flinch with what the meeting was like.  (We've since moved mom to one of my sisters homes and she is a totally different person, articulate, engaging, the mom I wanted to him to meet - very grateful that the change has happened.)

A little over a month now

It was just the two of us alone in a park on a rainy day.  We had a little BBQ afterward.  It was perfect for us.

Is it weird that I don't know anything about cuts of diamonds?  I have no clue what cut it is.

4.  What kind of wedding dress do/did you want before you started dress shopping?
All I know is that I am not going to get strapless.

I've yet to go shopping.

I haven't actually asked yet, but I know who will be on my side.  He's still working on figuring out his side.

All I really learned from being in wedding parties is that the little details really don't matter.  Shoes matching?  Not needed.  The perfect flowers?  No one notices.  Having your loved ones watch you marry the one you love is what is important.  My one thing I will be sure to do is to make sure the wedding party has lunch during all the prep the day of.  I was in one wedding in which I had a muffin for breakfast and no lunch since we got so busy.  I actually thought I was going to pass out while standing up in the wedding.  Not fun in four inch heels!

Some live far away, so I don't know them well, but I like and get along with all of them.  One of them even picks on me as if I'm already his sister.  Of course, I pick right back.

Nope.  They're all of the opinion that they have their own in-laws already.  As my mom says, "They'll be your in-laws, not mine."  His mom has said the same thing.  They don't need to be best friends with each other.  I don't see anything wrong with their way of thinking, seeing as though both sets of our parents have been married 35+ years. They must know something.  The moms, however, are likely to come with us/meet us to visit venues, so they'll get to meet at least once before the rehearsal.

I don't remember how he was introduced to my parents.  All I really remember is that they've loved him from the beginning.  It was either the time at Red Robin that we met them or it was when we drove down to their house, but I'm not sure.

We walked into their house and said hi.  There wasn't anything at all dramatic or traumatic about it.

On vacation in Puerto Vallarta ... it was on our 1 year anniversary of meeting.  And a surprise!

This is my first post, so we'll see how this goes... :-)

Since Sept. 2010-- can't believe it was that long ago.  Won't be getting married until July 2012, though.

During a surprise weekend trip to Victoria, BC.  It was at the end of an afternoon trip to Butchart Gardens, and he had to find the "perfect bench" on which to sit at the end of the day.  People just kept walking by, though, so we both were giggling, and I had a good idea of what was going on.
3.  What kind of cut is your e-ring stone?
Oval, I think.  It belonged to my grandmother who passed away last year.  I don't know very much about diamonds, so I'm so happy that it has sentimental value.
4.  What kind of wedding dress do/did you want before you started dress shopping?
Maybe one strap?  Something different... but not too different.

No dress yet!

Only one-- my older sister's to see how I liked it.  There will be many more to try on.

My sister, MOH.  I didn't even have to ask her.  When I called her to say that we were engaged, I started to ask, "will you be my..." and she said, "of course!"

A bit.  I live across the country from most of my family and friends, so I want to make everything very simple.  We're limiting the number of people in the WP (only two BMs and two GM).

Six?  The Bridal Show was great for picking up free mags!

Very good!  We see his family all the time since they're so close, and I've been out for drinks with my FSILs a couple of times.  They're a little older, so it's fun to get their advice and insight on the family.

Nope... But my Dad did meet one of the FSILs (we're building toward a formal family meeting)  (my mom passed away when I was younger, so I only have to worry about introducing them to my Dad!)

We had lunch with the oldest FSIL when my Dad was in town visiting.  She works near where we were hanging out for the day.

Brunch at the Cheesecake Factory (I never knew that the Cheesecake Factory had breakfast until we needed to find an easy place to meet up with my Dad for breakfast when he was in town).  We had been dating for about four months.

One our second date at a Mariners game.  I was introduced to FFIL, FSIL, FBIL, and Future nephew.  That was almost five years ago.  A nice easy way to meet the fam!  His sister had free box seats!

I've sorta been a lurker lately. haha. Student teaching is SOOOOOO much work. Exhuasting. Most exhausting thing I have ever done in my life. So, sadly, wedding has gone on the back burner....even though we are LESSSSSS than 3 months away!!!!! ahhhhhhh so nervewracking!

He actually just proposed at home unexpectly one night (christmas eve eve). He chose to do it at home because it was our first place together and it just felt right he said. It was perfect just like that!

no idea.....not good at that sorta thing.

4.  What kind of wedding dress do/did you want before you started dress shopping?
a very simple satin white dress. I never really liked lots of sparkles/beading etc. I thought I wanted a simple dress b/c to me that was gorgeous....

A dress with lots of sparkles and beading!!!! ahahah. I hated all the plain dresses. I really think you should go into dress shopping with no expectations, because you might limit your choices....

uhhhhhh I think my venue was 3rd we looked at in person, although I prob looked at EVERY single venue there is online until I found mine.

1. They were the 1st photogs I ever spoke with and I fell in love right away.........it was hard to break that.
