QOTW - Week of 2/6/2011 - Favors

Are you doing them?  If so, what are you thinking about doing?

Married ladies - did you have favors?  How were they received by your guests?  Do you have a picture?

We did small boxes with two kinds of maple candies.  One was a hard candy and one was the soft candies.  I personally LOVE maple syrup and I thought they would be great since we were getting married in the Adirondacks where maple syrup is plentiful and they were leaf shape for our fall wedding.  We did not put them at the tables but let guests take one on the way into the reception.  At the end of the night, I went around trying to find one to take home with me but there were none left so I'd say our guests liked them.

My grandfather was a member of The Gideons (the people that place Bibles in hotels and pass them out in jails, hospitals, and schools) for 15 years, and my dad is a member now.  My mom and grandmother are both in the Women's Auxillary.  Since it has always been such a big part of my life, dad and some of the other men from our Gideon Camp are going to pass out New Testaments (which happen to be light blue, matching the wedding colors) after the Ceremony with a bookmark in memory of my grandfather.

At the reception, we're doing a Candy Buffet with bags guests can fill to take home.  Definitely raiding the V-day candy for red...and hoping there's some aqua colored candy left after Easter. :)

We are using our candy bar as our favor. I didn't want to have something that would be thrown away. I think that our guests will love it and if not, more for me! :)

    We aren't decided on favors.
Here are the ideas we're considering:
    1) colored M&M's
    2) CD of our favorites
    3) chocolates with personalized wrapper (DIY, not from TK store)

We are probably going to wait and do favors towards the last part of our planning prep because we want to make sure we can afford to do them, and we don't want to spend $$ now and then find that we need that extra in case the reception venue costs more than we are budgeting (we'll know reception venue $$ in May and final number in mid-June for our July 16 wedding).
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

We did a cute little box that had 3 different chocolate truffles inside. We bought the chocolates from a little local chocolate business so it was super delicious and exclusive to the area. I wish I had a good pic of them, but alas, I don't...

My FMIL has a ton of clear glass votive holders and red votive candles (she runs a floral business) that she is going to let me have for free.  I'll only need to buy a few extra supplies to give each guest a red candle in a glass holder with a black ribbon tied around it that holds a personalized favor tag.

we haven't really thought about what to do for favors yet, but the idea of a candy bar or something like that is sounding pretty good.

We did not do them.  We put the money into more food and entertainment for our guests.
