Legally Qualified to Marry Us?

We will be getting married in a hotel and will have a non-denominatinal reverend marry us.  How can we confirm if he/she is legally qualified to marry us?

Isn't there some sort of certificate that officiants have to get in order to be licensed by the local municipality to marry someone?  Check with the local gov't office to see what kind of paperwork they give the officiants and then request to see that.  Or at least that's what I'd do!! :-)
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

That's a local/regional thing.  around here, anyone who has an ordination certificate is good to go, so you can be ordained online and it's legal.  That isn't the case everywhere, so you'll definitely want to look into local laws.

What PPs said.  Our officiant had a certificate though, and we had to take it to the courthouse and have them right special numbers and things on the back that we had to put on the marriage license.  HTH!!
