Finding an officiant for a interdonominational ceremony

Hey Ladies,

Both my fiancé and I are religious but neither of us has a home parish. I was raised Catholic and he Methodist. We really want an outdoor ceremony and don’t really know how to go about finding an officiate. I recently spoke to my favorite priest who said he was happy to help, but could not be a part of an outdoor ceremony. What denomination allows outdoor ceremonies?

I believe the Methodist church does.

Or you could use a Justice of Peace or another non-denominational officiant. Use Google.

Most of the protestant pastors I know (Southern Baptist, Berean, Evangelical Free, and non-denom) don't have a problem with a wedding outside of the church's building, since most of them view it as only a building...the Church is made up of the people in it, not the structure itself, and can meet anywhere. (Matthew 18:20)

Do his parents have a church that they attend? If so you could talk with their pastors about performing your ceremony

Like everyone else said Protestant pastors will perform outdoor weddings. Also check the cout house. They might be able to give you some information.
