November 2012 Weddings

Thoughts. Opinions. Advice.

Hey ladies!

So my FH and I are in the VERY early stages of planning, we aren't engaged yet, but a ring has been picked out and I've been told a proposal is coming soon. Part of the reason we are planning early is that we are both still students and need time to plan and get finances in order to have the type of wedding that we want.

Okay, so now that you have a little background here is my question: What are your thoughts on a wedding the weekend before or right after Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I would love to be married around then. Talks about a wedding date are in progress but I wanted some thoughts and opinions on this.

Thanks!

Re: Thoughts. Opinions. Advice.

  • If you are considering having a wedding around a holiday I would discuss it with your families.  Most people don't have many vacation days to use on both a holiday and a wedding in the same month much less within weeks of each other.  If you are dead set on around Thanksgiving I would definitely discuss it with your families.

  • Are people going to have to travel via airline prices are crazy then.
  • I think it is fabulous!!  My FH and I are having our wedding two weekends before, and we are incorporating the idea of family into the wedding.  My favorite part is that we are going to have a family style dinner service; the food will be placed on the table in serving dishes and everyone passes around the food and serves themselves. We are also getting some thanksgiving inspiration for our meal, not turkey, stuffing and beets, but we are doing a special green bean mix with ham and marinated turkey and other items like that :)

Plus, the people who go to your wedding will be closer to you because they will be giving up or compromising with their holiday time to attend your wedding :)

    It will be fabulous!!!
  • lol this is the same situation me and bf have we are engaged though. we are doing early November for coast reasons. good luck you sould do what you want htough
  • You are very lucky and happy. I love Thanksgiving, too. On thanking day, I always go to pinick with my friends, it is very beautiful. If I will get married, I think I will choose Thanksgiving day. If you will get married, I think weding dress is the most important, I recommend you this link http://www.shopforlover.com, the dress there is very beautiful.
