save the dates?

Has anyone sent out or thought about save the dates yet? As soon as we get our engagement pics back (our photographer said two weeks, were now going on a month......) we;re going to try to get them out. I wanna do them myself...has anyone used any websites or did their own online? I need ideas!

I made them myself and I ordered them and they should be here on Thursday! I basically took my engagement pictures and created a slide through keynote (on a Mac) or if you have a PC you can do it in powerpoint. Then I saved it as a jpeg and had them printed through vistaprint. I had gotten a groupon deal where I paid $15 for $60 worth of products from them and ordered all of my STD's. I only paid shipping which was like 6 and change. Here is what mine look like. I do have the city and our website on them but for security purposes I took them off so that I can show you.

We used the $15 for $60 Groupon deal on Vistaprint.  I know it's WAY early, but we're including our STDs with our Christmas cards.

Vistaprint is great. They are pretty fast, even with slow (cheaper) shipping.
You still have plenty of time. What if you mocked one up and then just inserted a pic into it when you got them back? That way you're all set to order.

We did the groupon-vistaprint thing, too.  But we did Magnets and they don't really offer free options for those.  Still, we got 200 magnets (including envelopes), custom-made address labels, and "14-day" shipping (which ended up being THREE days!) for $81, less than a third of what I'd budgeted. Vistaprint is AWESOME.

We're sending ours out to family that are 100% invited; they'll go with the Christmas cards.  For the rest, we'll send them later once we finalize the guestlist.

We did the VP groupon deal and our magnets came in this week.  We're happy with them!  We plan on mailing them out in January as many of our guests are out of town.  We are only sending them to family and guests we are 100% sure about.

we're not doing formal STD's, so I won't be of much help here. We just ordered some business type cards from Vistaprint with a little STD info, and included them in our thank you cards from the e-party for immediate family
