Day of Timeline... HELP!

Please share your day of timelines! Im trying to get an idea of what mine needs to look like and how long we need for each thing. Bridal party intro, first dance, garter/bouquet toss for example. Im a major planner and need to get this done! Laughing

  • We don't have garter/bouquet toss but here's mine... this was recommended by our venue. 

    6:45 p.m. - Wedding party introductions
    6:50 p.m. - First Dance
    6:55 p.m. - Welcome Toast (Dad)
    7:05 p.m. - First Course
    7:15 p.m. - Maid of Honor/Best Man Speeches
    7:35 p.m. - Entree Served
    8:05 p.m. - Cake Cutting
    8:10 p.m. - Father/Daughter and Mother/Son Dance
    8:30 p.m. - Cake Served/Open Dance Floor
  • I'm not sure how much of a help mine will be to you, it seems ours differs a lot from a lot of posts I have read on the knot. 

    Typical timeline where I live is an afternoon wedding, pictures, 1 hour to wait for guests to arrive/bridal party/cocktail hour, dinner with speeches, then first dances and main dance. 

    Ours is a LITTLE early (by about 30 mins to 1 hour) due to it getting dark early in November (gotta love Daylight Savings Time)

    9 AM - hair/makeup until I would estimate 12 before we get back to get our dresses on
    12:30 - photographers to come to take bridal pics (after she is done with groom, they leave for the church 12:30)
    1 or 1:10 PM - limo bus to pick up the girls
    1:30 - church service (about 20-25 minutes)
    2:00 - quick receiving line (just bride & groom, we don't want it to be long)
    2:15 - everybody on the limo bus to an indoor photo location (in the event of bad weather, this is where more formal, family pics will be taken)
    3:30-3:45 - outdoor candid pics of bride and groom begin until near dark (some of bridal party not many)
    5:30 - cocktail hour begins, we should be back to the hotel to mingle around 5:30-5:45
    6:30 - bridal party intro and dinners are served.

    Sometime after that, not sure when, when dessert is being served, speeches will begin and we are not having many speeches, nothing formal, short and sweet.  Cake will be cut towards the end of the speeches, then we'll say our thank yous. 

    8:00 or 8:15 - that will all be over.  Allow 45 minutes for the staff to clean up the tables.
    9:00 PM - formal dance should be started, we are not doing a bridal party dance...that has been cut out here for a while now and I am sure our bridal party are ecstatic about that.

    9:15 - the actual party should begin

    2 AM - liqour legally has to stop being served.  The dj advised if people are still dancing she will play up to an extra hour for free, until 3 AM before she shuts down.

  • Wow Miss_2010! You have a long day! It looks like it'll be a fun day, though! :)

    We haven't even started ours. I'm meeting with our venue in a week or two, then I'll just have to talk to everyone else to tell me how much time they need. :)

    11:00 Bride Hair & Make-up. All Hair/Make-up done by 12:15

    12:30 Florist arrives at Hilton

    12:45 Photographer arrives at Hilton
    1:10 First Guest Shuttle to Church leaves

    1:30 Second Guest Shuttle to Church leaves

    1:30 Limos arrive at Hilton

    1:40 Leave for Church

    1:50 Arrive at Church

    2:00 Ceremony

    3:30 First Guest Return Shuttle to Hotel Leaves

    3:50 Second Guest Return Shuttle to Hotel Leaves

    3:15 Ceremony posed photos, parents, grandparents, and wedding party photos in church

    4:00 Leave Church (4:15 latest, only have limos until 4:30)

    4:15 Bride & Groom photos at Hilton, any remaining posed family photos

    5:00 Cocktail hour

    6:00 Reception – introduction, first dance, father-daughter dance, grace, parent toasts
    6:15 Salads served

    6:30 (between courses) Best Man and Maid of Honor Toasts

    6:35 Entrees served

    8:15 Cake cutting

    8:20 Bouquet toss

    8:25 Fiddleheads (College friends' Celtic group) play a set

    8:45 Photographer leaves

    9-9:30  Bride&Groom leave without announcement

  • I have mine already but not on this computer (I'll tweak it closer to the wedding).  It's something like this:
    Hair and make-up: 
    should start at 11am for my 3:30 wedding.
