Opinions for Save the Dates

My fiance and I won't have a chance to take engagement photos for about another month due to scheduling conflicts and such.  At the moment I have made a sort of mock up of a save the date I like online with some old photos.  Originally I was totally fine with just doing this, but then I started thinking how I'd really like to be able to have professional ones to hang up in the house.  Our wedding is November 10, 2012, so I'm not sure if waiting for the professional photos is cutting it too closely (we do have some our of towners who will be attending).  What would you do???  Use the photos I already have, wait and use the professional ones, or use the ones I have and still take professional ones just for my own use (which seems kind of like a waste if they're not used on the save the dates as well...)

Thanks girls!

Re: Opinions for Save the Dates

  • Why don't you just send save the dates without pictures?

If no, then using any pic you love you the 2 of you is perfectly fine. There is no rule that STDs have to have an engagement picture on them

I really want summer engagement pix so we're not doing ours until June. We sent our STDs out last week, they didn't have a picture. I agree with amymaysa, I vote make a cute one w/o a pic :)

If you really want a picture one though, I agree an older one is fine.

Our STDs were photo-less as well (although I would've preferred photos).

If you haven't already done so, check out Vistaprint.  Also, search for Groupon or Living Social deals for Vistaprint.  We bought a Vistaprint Groupon for our STDs and the total amount we paid for our STDs was $22.00 (I believe we ordered 150).

We did the same thing for our programs.  Total cost for our programs was $25.00 (I believe we ordered 150).

  • We don't have the schedule for engagement photos right now either, and probably won't have ours done for another month or so. We did photoless save the date post cards, and I was pretty happy with them.
When we finally do get our engagement photos done, we're just going to have some prints made for our families. We figure by the time they get done, it'll be time for wedding photos, and engagement pics will just become obsolete anyway, lol

Go pictureless! There are so many options, you're bound to find something you love. Our STDs were pictureless and I wanted to go for something funny since it was going to be the first thing our guests received about the wedding and therefore had the possibility of setting the tone. I figured something funny would showcase our personalities and let the guests know that our goal is for them to have fun. We used magnetstreet.com. You can order samples and they take off the cost of the samples from your actual order and my samples came with a coupon too.

  • We did do pictures in ours, but that was because we wanted our engagement photos in the snow.

If you want to use your engagment photos, go photoless, but then include something in your invitations. You could do a cute magnet or something through Vistaprint. We ordered ours through http://www.mixbook.com/ and they have some super cute photoless save the dates.
