DIY Invite and/or Monogram Design

I'm trying to decide what program to use to design my invites. So any ladies who have done this with your invites and/or have designed your monogram, I need help...

I have Microsoft Office products on my computer. I also have Photoshop but I don't know how to use this very well at all. So, I'd rather stick with MS Office. Would you recommend Word, Publisher, or PowerPoint? Any tips or tricks you learned along the way?

TIA :o)

Honestly, my experience with DIYing my invites was so horrific, I think my brain blocked it out due to the trauma brought on by the stress.  Literally, they were truly a labor of love.  And not always a good labor, mind you.  I ended up doing a mix of Powerpoint and Photoshop to make ours.  From what I recall, the graphics came out crisper printed in Photoshop while the fonts were slightly pixelated and vice versa in Powerpoint.  HTH & GL!

Mine were very simple, just done in word and then I did cut outs for decoration.  It is a PITA...be forewarned.  : )

Ugh, I think I'm ready to tackle it. Honestly, I would love to just pick up a DIY kit at Michaels, but then I found something online that I LOVE, so those just won't cut it compared to what I want. Of course, the online invites are just way too expensive, so I'm going to attempt making them. If I can come out with them looking semi-good and for around $100 then I'll consider it a success!

Sounds like it's a lot of trial and error... thanks for the warning!!!!

I used microsoft word and powerpoint. Powerpoint is where I designed our monogram and I was able to make our postcard RSVP's easily. Good luck! You can do it. You'll be so proud!

I used PowerPoint as well. I found a design I like online and basically recreated it , adding my own uniqueness to it.  It wasn't difficult at all; I just never should have attempted to make my own card pockets! That was (and still is) the worst part for me.

So, I didn't think we were going to have a monogram because I had asked FI way back in like, March, to design one... to which he agreed, then never did. So I figured it was something I could live without and didn't care too much about.

Then last night he says, "So, what will our monogram look like?"

What? No, no. We're not having a monogram. Or now maybe we are! But I'll tell you what, I'm not making it!

Anyway, I ended up spending a few hours last night on Word creating a mock up of the invites. There are some definite formatting issues but all in all, that part of the process was realtively easy! I will post pics soon :o)
