Wedding Woes

s/o Names

I get called "Chris" all the time.  I even answer to it.  I have given up on getting my real name.  Even if I enunciate it VERY clearly...I still get "Hi, Chris!".

*sigh*

Back to my oatmeal.

    I get "betty".
    No idea.
  • I get "Chantelle" all the freaking time. There's no effing T in my name

  • I get Jennifer. ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME.

annoys the hell out of me, especially from suppliers or internal customers.

my work e-mails ALL have a signature. it's right in front of your face when you're typing your response. why are you not bothering to check the name of the person you're addressing?

I keep saying "Oface" trying to get Chris.  Chrisa maybe, but not Chris.

  • I am terrible with names.  There is a girl that I worked with named Michelle.  But she does a job that used to be done by Jessica.  I have referred to her as Jessica at least twice now. I've noticed that now that I work from home and don't always have faced to associate with names that I have a harder time keeping names straight.  My brain doesn't know how to categorize them otherwise.

Oh, and as for just hearing names wrong...yesterday when I was getting my hair cut I overhead the receptionist answer the phone and say "I'm sorry, Cherry Blossom doesn't work here anymore."  So I asked my stylist about it, because I'm nosey.

Me: Really?  There is someone that used to work here named Cherry Blossom??

Stylist:  ::screws up her face:: No.  What are you talking about?

Me:  The receptionist just told someone on the phone that Cherry Blossom doesn't work here anymore.

Stylist:  No.  She just said that Cheryl Wassner doesn't work here anymore.

    Me:  Oh.

    Ha zsa!

The best thing a GM did at the mill was make everyone wear their names on their hard hats.
  • If I worked with people in uniforms, especially with hats, I would be lost.

6 - Do you mind editing for my name?  I prefer to just stay Zsa on here.

I am so, so SOOOOO sorry ZSA!  I don't know why that happened.  Typically I use everyone's screen name in my head so the real names throw me off.  Many apologies.
  • No problem.   I've done it before, too.

  • The people at my favorite Chinese restaurant call me Sylvia because I need an American name.  I also routinely get Athena, Alicia, Alyssa, and my favorite, the blank, helpless stare and a stammering of "aaaaaaah..."  And on one glorious occasion, the bowling alley where I was in a league, who had my name typed out right in front of them, sent me something addressed to "Atheliss Mylastname".
