Dumb people who have no business talking

You know what I really hate? People who are real quick to criticize but are nowhere to be seen when you need help! Lately I keep getting comments from people, mostly FI's family who like to pretend they're real big on etiquette, about local customs I'm getting wrong. But where were any of them when I was asking for help on customs and traditions??

Last week FMIL was going to a family get together and offered to take some of our invites to family members. Yesterday she tells me how they were all completely shocked that I had sealed their envelopes. Really?? That FI's grandmother exclaimed "Invitations are never fully sealed! I hope she's not going around delivering her invitations like that!! Please someone tell her!" . first of all FMIL, you already know I'm not hand delivering invitations fully sealed. I only fully sealed their envelopes because you're incredibly clumsy, careless and would probably lose all the inserts on the way there. Second, who the F cares??!!

And last night we delivered an invite to a friend and when she reads it she laughs and says "Oh look! The time of the ceremony is written out in words! Hahahaha how funny!!" I just stared at her thinking I don't see what's so effing funny about that. It's called FORMALITY biotch!! Ughh apparently not. Thanks for all the proofreading help FSIL and FMIL!! Or NOT!

Ok you go. Who do you want to tell to shut the hell up??

Re: Dumb people who have no business talking

  • Oh, Nati!  People suck.  That is all.  You have no idea how much my mom is annoying me and I'm try to stay cal and even-tempered but dear god, it's hard!

  • My FMIL!

She claimed that she found our hotel venue on a bedbug registry.  She sent me the link only for me to discover that the one she was looking at is in another city! So I brought this to her attention and she ignored the fact that she was totally wrong.  She is just trying to find things wrong with the wedding because she is not in control of the whole event.

Then I invited her to get her hair done before the wedding with my mom and my 3 friends.  I already covered the payment to the stylist but she insisted that she pay anyways and asked how much it will cost.  I told her $75 and she texts back, "Per person!?!?!"  Yes!! This is the cheapest person I could find, unless you want to go to Supercuts!!

She also has made a big scene about claiming to be allergic to flowers (I didn't know this and gave her flowers at Easter, only to have her put them directly in the trunk of her car....) and also an allergy to aerosol products so she is getting her hair done first then leaving she she won't be exposed to 'toxic chemicals.'  She's totally fine!!!!!!
  • I think maybe b/c I'm planning from abroad, I don't hear any of these little comments, but I'm sure they still get said by people. Whatever. Ppl are too uptight sometimes.

  • My FMIL, i wish i could tell her where to go sometimes! And to stop crying over stupid sh*t that I don't feel bad for her!!

  • OMG Nati, what the hell. I would flip out. I've had so many instances of people telling me things are "wrong" or "not how you do it" that I'm ready to pull out all of my hair. I don't have the patience to type it all out!

  • Tell me about it! It seems everyone has to get their word in as to how my wedding should be planned, regardless of how us as a couple feel about it!

Ummm...I had no idea you weren't supposed to seal invitations all the way.  Good thing I didn't hand deliver any.

I think people making comments like that are tacky.  If they want to bring up etiquette, someone should mention polite behavior in society does not include critizing others, especially the person to be honored at the event they were just invited to!

I totally agree Katie, I find it to be of poor taste. Especially when the person being criticized is not even there. I feel like people sometimes make rules up just to tell you you're doing it wrong lol! Oh and his gma is seriously pushing it. She also complained to FMIL that we didn't include our bank account number for the monetary gifts. FMIL said that's what the mini envelope is for. Gma complains it's too small to put money in and FMIL agreed. Ughh I know we're not crazy because we JUST got an invitation with the money envelope the same size as ours!!! Gma has too much sht to say when she isn't even hosting! Ughh end rant.

Wow, I'm very fortunate I get along great with my FMIL! I just called her to invite her to our tasting tonight and she said she is going to hurry at work and get over here so she can come!

The only complaint I have is dealing with limo companies...either they don't have anything availavle for 12 people or cost a small fortune and they keep calling me even when I say thanks but no thanks!

Sometimes abuelas just need to be slapped around a bit. ;-) Totally kidding folks, totally kidding. :p I counted the number of times that Abuela said calliente or calor yesterday in an hour...24 times.......really??

Anyway. I don't understand how it's bad etiquette to seal the envelopes all the way anyway? Who cares. Nobody is going to be hurt like 'OMG MY ENVELOPE WAS SEALED. I AM SOOO OFFENDED"

Hahahaha wow! That's a literal every 2 minutes lol
  • Ugh, I hear you, Nati. My future in-laws are driving me crazy too. Lately my FMIL is on my ass about our RD invitations not going out yet. The RD that she is contributing zero dollars to. Ummm....unless you want to suddenly volunteer to host it, please shut up.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Dumb people who have no business talking : Could she host it in one of her three new cars? (Yes, I know that it's none of your business where and how she spends her money, and all of her money could be going into those payments, making her actually broke, but more cars than people does seem like a lot.)
