Venue

So I've been looking at venues forever it seems like and still can't find what i'm looking for. Anyone have any ideas on an outdoor venue? I would love to get married on a beautiful piece of property or garden type place where I can have both the ceremony and reception. I thought about a couple of the Seattle parks but couldn't really find any that I loved. Any ideas??

we're getting married at the Clise Mansion over in Marymoor Park (Redmond)! They have the option of getting married in the back yard (that's what we want, weather permitting, it's gorgeous!) and setting up tents in the back yard for the reception. We're going to have the reception indoors since late September nights can be cool. They're a bit out of the way and more $$$, but well worth it!

I helped a friend find her wedding location and she wanted what it sounds like you're describing.  In my research it really seemed that most of those types of locations are outside the city.  How many people will you be having?  They ended up choosing Jardin del Sol and it was really beautiful.

My venue fits those requirements. I got married at Tazer Valley Farm in Stanwood. It was beautiful & comes with a tent in case of rain. =)

I'm getting married at Willow's Lodge in Woodinville.  It has a covered outdoor patio in the herb garden and the reception is just inside.  There is an option to cover the guests if it rains, too!

I looked at the UW Center on Urban Horticulture and loved it, but ultimately it's out of our price range.  Beautiful setting, however. With an option of the atrium in case of rain.

I have heard good things about the Clise Mansion and their sister? something like that, mansion Robinswood, I think that's the name.
There is also all the wineries in Woodinville, but they can be a little bit pricey.
I had an indoor wedding so I'm not much help. Good luck!

I don't know many locations, but I recently saw a really gorgeous outdoorish/barn wedding on weddingbee that was in Issaquah.

That's the Pickering Barn you're talking about in Issaquah.  I LOVED the Robinswood House that Brandy was talking about, but ultimately decided against it because you only get the venue for 6 hours (that includes setup/clean up) and they do two weddings a day.  If those things don't matter to you though, check it out.  THey are pretty budget-friendly too!

Thanks everyone for your ideas! I'll have to talk some time and look into all of those options. We don't want to spend too much on the venue (or really on the entire wedding) so i'm not sure about a vineyard although I did look into the ones in woodinville and found a couple that I really loved...darn budget :) haha
@amanda: We're looking at about 85 guests, with a lot of children so we want it to be pretty kid friendly. I'd love to hear what you found for your friend if you don't mind sharing! Thanks so much!!

Just looked at the Robinswood House and I love it! Plus very cheap which is always a nice bonus. jennyann, you're right though not very much time. Not sure how that time constraint would work....

85 people and kid friendly... did you not love Golden Gardens? If we could fit, I would do that place in a heartbeat.

Have you looked at Fireseed Catering? They're a ferry ride away but they looked awesome to me.

If you were willing to go south, you should fit into the Pagoda or the Lodge, both at Point Defiance in Tacoma. Point Defiance also has a rose garden which is a popular place for ceremonies. Or in Gig Harbor there's the Olde Glencove Hotel and Kensington Gardens.

Also, if you don't want to go too late (and don't mind a ferry ride again), there is Port Gamble which has a really cute chapel and outdoor space at the Pavillion.

Robinswood House is managed by the same company as Clise Mansion, so I think they have similar policies regarding time. My reception is at Clise, and I'm purchasing an extra hour in the evening. If you're concerned that 6 hours isn't long enough, you could ask them whether you can purchase extra hours, either in the morning or in the evening.

I looked at Golden Gardens and thought it was beautiful- although I have yet to see it in person. I'm not familiar with the way that venue works though. They require a million dollar damage policy and some other stuff that I have never had to navigate through...that was my only turn off- i like what i know :) haha.

Someone had the idea of the jardin del sol up north and i looked at it online and fell in love!! i'm going with my sil on monday to go see it in person.
Thanks for all the great ideas everyone!!

I think you should go check out Golden Gardens. It's really gorgeous plus plenty of space for kids to go run around. The one caveat to that is that since it is on the water, parents (as they always should) really have to keep a good eye on them.

As far as the damage policy goes, I wouldn't let that slow you down at all. I think some of the city owned venues will require you to get separate insurance but it souldn't be too much and I'm certain you can talk to the coordinator with the city and s/he will be able to help you. They are definitely used to helping people who don't put on big events all the time.

And, you can ask here about it - at least one person here is already signed up for Golden Gardens. I'm sure she can help you out. I just can't remember her name right now.

If you're willing to go a little outside of seattle, check out Arbor Gardens in Snohomish. It's gorgous, and they include two tents in your rental. Also, Port Gamble (just across the water!) is gorgeous and has the most perfect little chapel, and an area for outdoor weddings as well!

I not sure of your locale, but I got married in Mt Vernon at The Grand Willow.  It has two outdoor spaces and a huge indoor space.  Great if the weather doesn't cooperate.  Connie, the owner keeps the gardens pretty year round.

My fiance and I just booked Twin Willow Gardens.  We looked at most of the venues that others have listed above but this one had the right feel.  The owners love gardening and have a great outdoor space.  There is a very private and peaceful wooded alcove that is quite majestic on one side of the property that is perfect for a ceremony.  They have an open house every Wednesday evening during the summer.  Check it out.
