Father/Daughter Dance

If you are doing a father/daughter dance what song are you going to use? I'm thinking of using "My Girl" by The Temptations....

I have some ideas under music in my bio for ceremony or special dance songs.

I like My Girl!  It's happy and upbeat, which is a fun way to go with the Father/Daughter dance.

I let my dad pick, and he picked Sunshine on my Shoulders by John Denver. I almost died when he told me. But I managed to find a version of it by some female singer from Canada that didn't totally suck.

You could let him pick, if you trust he won't think of something terrible. I knew it would be important to my dad so I asked him to think of one. (Even though I hated what he came up with. I just had to grin and bear it because I knew how much it meant to him.)

We're doing 'Sugar Pie Honey Bunch' by the Four Tops. It's faster, but my dad raised me on this song, and I know he'll love it. I'm not telling him till we're closer to the wedding!

We're either doing Isn't She Lovely or Sweet Melissa. Sweet Melissa's lyrics don't exactly fit, but I think it's cute because, you know, it's my name. Ha.

I think were going with I loved her first by heartland by I absolutely love that song from flicka by tim mcgraw but my dad and i dont have a close enough relationship for song    But i am still very stuck for my fi mother/son dance

I too like the Tim McGraw song.
Though I also really like Ballerina girl by Lionel Richie. I've told me dad to think about it. That way we can come up with a few ideas together then pick one from there.

The only thing bad about the tim mcgraw song is at the end he says no man will ever be good enough or something along those lines. I would hope it wouldnt hurt FI feelings

hmmm...true. BUT obviously that is a how a dad should feel about his daughter. even if he loves FI. As is the case with my dad and FI. Plus FI asked him permission so obviously he knows that not how my dad feels about him. Ya know?

My dad and I danced to "It Won't Be Like This For Long," by Darius Rucker.  I knew that that would be our dance long before DH and I had even gotten engaged!  My dad kind of made fun of it at first, but then during the dance, he was kind of singing along with the lyrics.

I'm considering "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride. Do you think it's weird that it's a woman singer and I'm dancing it with my dad? IDK, maybe I'm overanalyzing it.

I love the Martina song and I don't think it will be wierd at all! I love seeing everybody's song choices!

I'm definitely doing a father/daughter dance, and I may have to steal the "My Girl" idea!  I grew up listening to Motown music with my parents, so I sort of want to pick something from that era.

I'll probably also ask my dad if he has any ideas for it.  If he's got something specific in mind, I'm happy to go with it.
