Wedding Woes

How was everyone's 4th?

It was a rainy day here.

We had a good friend's baby's bris in the morning/early afternoon and then we went home so DH could watch the Nathan's hot dog eating contest. Then we went to a friend's new house for an indoor cookout. No fireworks, but still we had a good time.

I had a race that morning that we ran down to, and then I raced.  It was not good weather for a PR-about 75 degrees and 70% humidity.  But I was close to PRing and then crashed on the run back home.  I cut it about 3 miles short and went home instead of my parent's house.

It was a clusterfluck getting out of my house that morning though.  I made PW's coffee cake and had to buy sugar, because I didn't have any.  Oops.  It was a great cake though, and brunch went over well.

H and I went home and laid around for about 4 hours.  We parked up river from the fireworks and walked a pedestrian trail to the downtown area.  Met SIL/BIL and their two girls for fireworks.  Watching 3 y.o. niece amazed at the fireworks made my night.  She was adorable, hands over her ears and all.  :)

I also think that it's ridiculous, Wz. I laid on our bed watching re-runs of Who's the Boss?, waiting to leave.

Long and painful.   I was thrown from our boat on friday and though nothing was broken, my arm was beat to hell (yes, busy...I have pictures).

Also, a tip for all you pregnant ladies....once you are so big that your belly button disappears, bare bumps are not cute...particularly at the dinner table.  Thank god DH and I were sitting in the other room and finished eating when SIL decided it was okay to wear her non-maternity bikini to the table, because it was truly disgusting to watch her poke and prode it.

I spent it doing homework and getting a 100% on my quiz.  We were able to see some fireworks from our balcony, so that was nice.

My whole holiday was glorious. I slept in, got a lot cleaned around the house, played video games, baked a little, hung out with friends, played games, had some wine, had some more wine...

It was exhausting, but great.  We had 18 people over for our bbq.  There was much food, drink and good times.

We went to a BBQ at my ILs' friends' house on Saturday. It was fun. It was the synagogue crew. We're friendly/friends with the kids who are all our age.

Sunday we hung out for a while in the central AC at my ILs' house. Went to Target to get some new clothes. MIL and SIL got me a bunch of baby stuff and some maternity clothes, which was really sweet. We went home and were able to see not only the illegal fireworks shows in our neighborhood but also the Macy's show all from our bedroom window.

Yesterday we roasted in our apartment. We only have 1 AC window unit and it's in our bedroom. Unfortunately, our bedroom is brick covered with plaster. The brick bakes in the heat and then retains it. The AC was basically useless. We did go for lunch and to the awesome supermarket (Fairway) with a friend of mine. That was good.

I was actually relieved today to get on the subway. Blissful HIGH AC.

we had MIL, FIL, SIL and niece over for corned beef and cabbage - not traditional or anything, but we're trying to empty the freezers before we move.

21mo nice was more interested in playing with the dogs than eating, so her dinner consisted of kraft singles and a fiji apple. niece is big for her age and Wiggles is the perfect size for her (pretty much the same weight) - Rogue towers over her, and niece seemed a little intimidated by her. at one point, niece fell and landed on Rogue - scared Rogue a little. After that I got Rogue to lay and told her "head down" so she'd put her head on the floor - niece was petting her/cuddling with her/hugging her and kissing her after that. If Rogue would start to pick up her head, niece would tell her "head down!" (so would I, and she'd listen) - it was really cute.

we had some PA legal fireworks and hung out.

Very low key. We spent the day with our friends and their two kids. We bbq'd, watched a couple movies, went swimming in their pool. We were home by 9 and relaxed the rest of the evening.

It was nice. We took Mr. Chubby to my parents place and took him in the pool. I'm so pissed because we couldn't find our camera and when we got there my sister's camera had a dead battery. So no pictures.

    It was the KLASSIEST.

We had lots of food at the band house, and I made tons of Nigella's chocohotpots (a dense, fudgy cake with a molten center). We set off fireworks when it got dark, but it wasn't enough for the pyros.

Somebody bought a warehouse club-sized box of sparklers, and we took them all out, put them in a pile, and set them all on fire. Oooooh. Aaaaah.

That wasn't enough for Evan, who by now was 8 ciders, 5 tequila shots, and an amaretto sour deep, so he put all of the fireworks boxes on the pile and set those on fire.

Then, as any well-sauced son of a fireman would do, he put the small bonfire out with nature's firehose. Yep. Peed on it.

My husband, everyone. Give it up. ::golf clap::
