Wedding Woes

At one point and time, I would have been proud of this

I have a knack for finding the most expensive of anything. Like give me two black sweaters and I'll always pick the $500 one even if they look almost exactly alike. What can I say? I'm genetically unable to be cheap.

But I'm trying to do research on baby crud like strollers, cribs, etc. Big ticket things. I don't want to waste our money. Inevitably, I end up finding something I really like and think would really work for us, and last but it's like ridiculously overpriced. I just found nursery furniture I like and the crib, dresser, bookshelf hutch thingy, and little nightstand would be $3000. Um yeah no. I found a stroller that would work with DH's height. $600. No way. I've tried searching Craigslist, but I can't find them.

I should just make DH do all this. He's super cheap and always finds a good deal.

  • why won't dh do this?

i realy think that baby stuff is why dh really, really hates idkiwp.  the man loves nothing more than researching a good deal.

  • It's okay Carrann. Just get it at garage sales and/or order online. Maybe they'll send you two of something by mistake!

  • Just shop lift it all. That works, too.
  • He said he'll help when I get stuff narrowed down. And after I find something (or a few things) I like, he's always awesome at getting the best deal on it. The problem is, he always wants me to find what I like because he knows he has bad taste. If I left it in his hands, the baby would sleep in a camo nursery decorated with pictures of cars and awesome trades he made. Even if it was a girl.
  • My 2 cents:

Furniture- skip the baby stuff and just get adult furniture.  It's better quality and there is more selection.  We just took the mirror off the dresser and use that for a changing table.

Carseat- Get an infant seat for the convenience.  The Snugride is a good seat for not a lot of dollars.  Invest in a convertible.  The kid will be in that for YEARS.

Stroller- think about how much and where you walk.  Our walking isn't much so we have a stroller for the infant seat that we still use and an umbrella stroller.  It works for our uses.

Mainly, think about how often you will use things.  You know that buying 3 or 4 cheap things you don't like/won't last is more expensive than 1 really good one.
