Our venue has a list of 3 DJ's to choose from. We signed a contract last month that had the rep for being the Bring Down the House DJ and were really excited. (Our wedding isn't until August 2012)
He called me today and asked if I'd be willing to accept a colleague of his as a substitute. His dayjob is as a teacher. Last May, 2 of his co-workers told him they'd like it if he would DJ their wedding and officiate (which he does also), and they'd get back to him with the date. They just told him their date today, which is the same as ours. He lamented, saying he'd already signed a contract and they were really bummed. He offered to ask me how I felt about it but made no promises. I appreciated his honesty and told him that I couldn't make a decision arbitrarily and would ask Future Hub.
I've met the subsitute DJ at the bridal fair and he was nice, but I didn't get to hear/see him perform at all. If he has a good rep with the venue, that's good enough for me, but Future Hub is pissed. He said that's the point of having a contract and this has turned him off completely to this DJ and he wants to look into a different provider. I think he should cool his jets and think about it... also to put himself in their shoes. He said he'd sleep on it and we should get back to the DJ in the morning.
So WWYD?
