We went with a non-stacked cake from Celebrity Cake Studio. They decorate it any way you want... it's just not traditionally stacked. We paid $138 OUT THE DOOR for 3 cakes that served 90 people. They were 4 layers each and were delicious! We got so many commpliments on the cake. We had a 6 inch chocolate with chocolate mousse, an 8 inch carrot cake with cream cheese filling, and a 10 inch with marble and bavarian cream filling. The carrot cake was an upcharge otherwise it would have been even cheaper!

We just went and saw Kelli from Kelli's Creations last thursday.
    If we go with her:
Lemon cake with Fresh Lemon Curd
    Chocolate cake with Blackberry Preserves
    Coconut cake with Lime mousse

She also gave me an AMAZING deal on a surprise groom's cake.....

I am still going to look, and taste, a couple other bakeries though.
I didnt find her very warm and receptive, and she only brought us our her basic flavors. Nothing special like some of the other brides here who are using her.

    I wonder why.

Mrs. Walters - she can try to accomodate special flavors if there's a couple you have in mind that you want to try, she typically just needs a bit of a notice.  Otherwise, she'll have her normal flavors and maybe a couple specialized ones depending on projects she has at that time.  And yes, it does take a bit for her to warm up.  I think she's naturally an introverted person.  Sorry if I sound like I'm making excuses for her, but I love Kelli! :)

    Our flavors:
    Tiramisu
    Yellow cake with pineapple mousse
    Lemon cake with raspberry mousse
    Chocolate cake with cherry mousse

    TyGirl:
Well she had a full week, so I wasnt sure how much notice she needed to make some of her "different" flavors.
I let her know that we hadnt been to any other tastings before so we werent sure where to start but I asked her if she could have some of her more exotic flavors and combinations there, and there wasnt.

FI said he felt like she didnt really care about our appt and wasnt "into it"
I just chalked it up to her being busy or distracted with other orders.

Ours is going to work out to be nearly $5 per slice, but we're having some really amazing flavors:

Jamaican rum chocolate cake with hazelnut mouse
Almond cake with poached pear and bavarian cream filling
Poppyseed cake with lemon curd and cream cheese filling
Chocolate cake with fresh raspberry preserves filling
