Wedding Woes

Yesterday

I went to the hemo. Turns out I have 3 DVTs (super dangerous, can break off and kill me) and 1 superficial clot. I'm on the injections until at least 6 weeks post partum. I have to go in for weekly monitoring to make sure the DVTs haven't broken off and to monitor my blood levels. I'm terrified.

I'm sure there will be a TKPS post about this but whatever.

I don't disagree with the docs, Zzilla. They're major researchers in this field and far too many practioners put patients on these drugs when they don't need to. The drugs wreak havoc on the system while you're on them and years later. Why medicate before there is a problem when you don't know if one will present itself?

I will admit that I'm upset with the ER and radiology who didn't do a thorough enough job to catch any of these.

Morons.  I'm glad they're doing something about it though.

PS.  If there is a TKPS I will hunt them down.  Well, not really-but I would want to.

Here is a weird question, if they know where the blood clots are can't they just go in and scoop them out?

TT you have every right to be worried, and I'm sure Ww would agree that having cancer doesn't negate the severity of what you have going on. But everything will be fine, and you should kick the crappy doctors in the shins.

There are clot busting drugs but they're not safe for pregnancy. They're also used only in extreme cases (when someone has a hip to ankle totally occlusive clot). There are also lasers but again, used only in extreme cases.

I've seen many people on IF and high-risk that are on Lovenox throughout most of their pregnancy.   I agree with zilla.

    I hope everything is okay.

Hopefully no threat. They're certainly keeping more of an eye on me now.

As for the pre-medicating, I'm going to a world-renowned hospital and seeing top researchers in this field. I trust their opionions and practices. It sucks that this happened, but I also agree with them and the decisions that were made prior to this. Both my OB and my hemo agreed that medicating prior to a problem puts unneccessary strain on an already strained body. I don't hold it against them.

Lovenox is the blood thinner I'm on. It's not a clot buster just a blood thinner.

nothing to do for the clots. They have to dissolve on their own. It'll take time and be uncomfortable but that's the treatment for getting rid of them.

I have a feeling that vein stripping will be in my future. The circulation in my right leg is so bad and the valves don't work in half of the veins in my calf.

busy, i thought you would suggest that the clots be dug out and strung like beads onto a necklace.

tt, i am glad you are in good hands and have people who are actively monitoring you.  and that you are actively monitoring yourself.

The vascular tech found it great that I knew something was up and pursued it. She congratulated me on being "so in tuned" with my body.

Then she let me see the baby when she was done with my leg. It was bouncing around all over the place.
