I told H about that Fed Up With Lunch blog.
He said when he was in school, the lunch ladies prepared food on-site. When I was in school, it was all prepped somewhere else and simply heated there. He said it was all prepared fresh, and he followed that with, "but we still had fried chicken about twice a week" and laughed.
He did grow up in the south.
