S/O Moving

**O-Face**

H and I both look at each other and say "you'd never move" and I say to him "you'd never move".  We both kind of want to cut ties sometime and just move to wherever our heart desires.I figure we'll make it to retirement before we actually do it.  But it's fun to think.  Our pick?  MAINE.  Yep.  MAINE.

I get antsy to move all the time. It's strange and difficult to think that the house we are purchasing is going to be the house that we live in till our kids leave or we die. We had always talked about possibly moving to Seattle after a few years in AZ, but that's a very slim likelihood now. We can't ignore how good DH's job is, and how I'm actually in a very good location work-wise.

Maine is pretty, and they have moose. Would you live along the coast or inland?

i2i w/PMeg - this was the best time for us to move across the county - before we have to factor kids into the move. We bought our current house with the assumption we'd never move, and are planning on the same thing in TX.

Most likely inland.  H and I want to live in the middle of nowhere.  Like...nowhere.

The problem with us is that we're so tied to family, myself to the business and H with just family.

I don't know that FI and I will ever buy a house with the assumption that we'll never move. We're avoiding buying in CA for that exact reason.

dh and i would like to move back to the midwest with the assumption that that's where we'll live until death.

TD, we are going with the bare minimum that we won't move in the next 10 years. Its our hope that in 10 years, we'll have sufficient equity in this house. I moved a lot as a kid and DH did move when he was younger. It's hard, and while it wasn't the end of the world, we'd like to avoid it. Seeing as I'll hopefully be pregnant in the next year, we need to put down some roots.

I want to retire in Maine. H wants Alaska. But we agree that someday, we'll move somewhere cold and rainy, where there aren't a lot of people to bug us and we can buy a house on the ocean.

Our goal is to someday come back here to put down roots, with a soft deadline of when our first kid hits kindergarten. But when he moved out here 3 years ago we thought it was permanent, and now we have 2 houses with no equity that we have to figure out what to do with.
