What does the knot mean by...

Submit your newspaper wedding announcement (if you were planning to).

We already did this when we got engaged. Don't you put these in the paper after the wedding with a photo from the wedding?

TIA!

i don't know how it works for non-chinese....but in chinese culture, you always put it in the newspaper about 2-3 weeks before the wedding (no engagement announcement though). that way all your friends can see that your kids are getting married (parents usually do all the planning in chinese weddings).... it also allows your friends you might have missed to see the announcement, call you and say "how come i wasn't invited", and you can say "oh, we didn't send out invitations yet!" or "yours must've got lost in the mail!" because everybody is invited to a chinese wedding.....

Yeah, I think maybe you can either do an engagement announcement or a wedding announcement - I don't think you're supposed to do both - heck, you don't even have to do either.

Btw, out of curiousity, do you mind sharing which paper you went with and how much it cost?

It was over 2 years ago when we put in our engagement announcement and we did it in our hometowns. Mine was the Everett Herald and it cost $30 or so and FI's hometown paper- Kelso/Longview (don't know the name) was free. So weird. Most papers have websites with forms and picture stipulations but you do have to submit them in person sometimes too>
