Hair question

Are bangs out?  My hair is shoulder length and thick, thick, thick.  I feel like it's just heavy and non-descript.  I'm thinking some bangs and layers might lighten things up, but are they out?

Those thick bangs that aren't sideswept are out, and if they aren't, they should be.

Hm.  I have bangs.  Love them.  They're better for the winter because they cover your face and you don't mind them so much when it's cooler out.

That's what I was thinking zsa, but I'm afraid my hair would never pull that off. I know I need color, but I'm cheap with $$ and time right now.  I have a hard time giving up either.
