A childhood friend of mine died Wednesday. He killed himself. According to the news stories, it was a police shoot out, after his car was pulled over for suspicion of being involved in several robberies. Per the family and passenger in the vehicle (not involved), he shot himself once pulled over. The police saw/heard the shot and shot back. Apparently he was bi-polar and hadn't been taking his meds for awhile. He had a heavy gambling addiction, lost all of his and his wife's money a few months ago, and was told that morning by her that she had changed her mind about working things out with him and wanted a divorce. They had 2 kids. This is so freaking sad for me, and has been a tough couple of days. He was like my little brother growing up, through the start of hs. Just always a really funny and outgoing kid, too smart for his own good. It just breaks my heart that he ended up there, and felt that there was no other way/wasn't of sound mind to make that call in the first place. He was an organ donor, and as of today his organs will save 55 people, and his marrow and tissue will go to help another 500 people. This is the story I want to see run, not to mention that it wasn't a "police shoot out," etc. This does not excuse the robberies, but it just pains me a lot to see him portrayed in this light. Sorry to be a downer.

Gone too Soon.
