You may have heard of scuba divers getting married underwater, or daring couples saying “I do” while skydiving, but you probably have never heard of a wedding with this unique twist. On Feb. 21, 2009, happy couple Toni Walker and James Manzano sealed their sweet deal when they exchanged vows at a DQ Grill & Chill restaurant in Bethlehem, Pa. Walker works in the restaurant as an assistant manager, and after general manager Louis Romero learned that Walker was planning a simple wedding at the local courthouse, he insisted that the ceremony take place at his location. The event took about three weeks to plan. “This is our wedding,” Manzano said. “We thought, ‘Why not make it fun?’” Afterward, the newlyweds enjoyed a meal of Chicken Strip Baskets before treating invited guests and restaurant customers a custom Blizzard® wedding cake. Curly Topâ was also in attendance. “I thought it was very romantic,” said Erin Wimmer, an 8-year-old from Bethlehem Township, who became part of the celebration when she happened to visit the restaurant on the day of the wedding. “It’s fun to get married at a place you don’t usually get married, like where you can get ice cream.”
