Perry is the one who tweeted it, not Tyler.  I really can't imagine the band w/out Tyler. I think Perry quit for awhile back in the 80s, but Aerosmith w/out the voice is going to be...unbearable.

What? No. Just....no. It doesn't work that way. Dave can change out whoever he wants, because HE is Foo. Steven Tyler is the face of Aerosmith. It isn't Aerosmith without him (and I don't even like them).

Though, I am raging over the Van Halen comment, seeing as Sammy Hagar is a far superior singer to that insipid David Lee Roth (and their songs were better as Van Hagar, too).
