Indoor Venue

Hi! Newbie here – been watching for a couple of weeks. Newly engaged on 8/17/10 and am stressing about venues already  We’re thinking next November if we can find a good indoor spot (think twinkle lights and candles) and if not, then a summer wedding at an outdoor venue. I prefer the indoor wedding, so the summer wedding is our back up plan. My question – any good indoor places north of Seattle for 100 people that aren’t too expensive? I feel like I’ve seen everything online and none of them are “perfect”. So far the best on the list is the Marysville Opera House. Any opinions or suggestions? Thanks so much in advance!

have you seen the lake union cafe? i think it'd be perfect for the "twinkle"... what is expensive to you? that varies greatly. it's not really "north of seattle" because it's IN seattle....

wow, thanks for the response already! I'm looking for under 2K with the option of bringing our own food or catering around $20 per person. I noticed you were married on 9/9/09 and we're looking possibly at 11/11/11 IF we can find a nice place indoors

maybe a nice hotel? we are using the inn at gig harbor and they are really reasonable, but there is also a lot of really awesome reception sites all over, and 100 people seems to be about an average wedding size

One thing I love about TK is that I can try to get other people to use the venues that I LOVED but wouldn't work for us (too small or whatever).

These aren't necessarily north of Seattle but:

Uptown Hideaway - smallish - you'd really have to have only 100 but it's got a really cozy/romantic feel to it and you can bring in your own caterer.And the rental price is great. http://www.uptownhideaway.com/Facility.html

Sole Repair - super cool lofty place in Seattle. Loved it but it is too small for us: http://www.solerepairshop.com/ You do have to use their catering but the rental is really cheap.

Now I'll just list some places that you might look up. I don't remember the details on them for rental price and catering but:
Clise Mansion
A Country Location
Court in the Square (if you like the looks of that one - talk to me about the catering bits)
Golden Gardens Bathhouse
Lake Union Rowing
Mercer Island Community Center
The Pagoda in Tacoma (totally opposite direction but is a city owned venue, fits about 100 and open catering)
Sanctuary at Admiral
Sorrento Hotel
Swedish Cultural Center
Woodland Park Zoo (you have to have their caterer but they are reasonably priced, the rental benefits the zoo and I believe part of the catering goes to the zoo, too) 

Check out some of the wineries in Woodinville, too. They have some options.

One of the venues we looked at was the Grand Willow Inn in Mount Vernon (which is like 45 min to 1 hour from Seattle, depending on traffic).  It has a lot of indoor space, and some outdoor for an outdoor ceremony if the weather permits.

Here is a website, the "Bare Essentials Package" might be your best bet, especially if you are doing it off season in November (and I looked, and 11-11-11 is a Friday, which is cheaper than a Saturday):

I also checked out these other indoor/outdoor venues "up North," which are:
Tazer Valley Farm (Stanwood)- Our spot- a little pricier, but I wanted a rustic location, has a big ol' barn and tent included in price. There is plenty of room indoors for 100 people if the weather is iffy.

Beau Lodge (Bow)- the cheapest of the 3 venues, but it is mainly outdoors, and since we are getting married in May I didn't want to risk rain. The indoors might be a tiny bit tight for 100, but it could work.

I have booked the Grand Willow Inn in Mt. Vernon and I LOVE IT!!! The lady who runs the place (Connie) is EXTREMELY flexible with prices and she will put together a package that fits your budget. I think the Premium Plan is best because it includes all the set up, decorations, clean up, etc, but we are blessed with a more flexible budget. Let her know that Casey K was raving about her!

Also, she knows some of the best people in the north end, and can likely refer you to vendors that can also work with your budget! She's been fantastic for us. My fiance and I just adore the venue (in all seasons). We are booked for next August and we are just so thankful to have found this venue. It's absolutely beautiful... the pictures on her website do not do it justice. www.grandwillow.com
