Accident in front of my house

A car hit a cyclist right in front of my house. They put the girl on a backboard and took her away, with lots of blood streaming down her face.  I did see them pick up her helmet, so that's a good sign hopefully. Also, there were 2 cars that had stopped.  One of them must've had a tarp in their car, b/c I saw them take it back when the ambulance got here.  It's raining and dreary here right now, so that was an incredibly wonderful gesture.I'm surprised no one knocked on the door, but there's no car in the driveway so it looks like no one's home probably.Well, hello Monday.

  • How awful.  I hope she's ok.
  • I would have gone out and watched. I would have been pretty useless, but I would have gawked. And tried to take some pictures for Busy.
  • That's awful.

  • I stood at the window.  I didn't even realize anything was going on until the fire truck stopped in front of the house.  I was reading, making a mental list for the day, heard the siren and then heard it stop and thought, That was close.  Looked out the window and saw it.  I actually couldn't figure out what was going on for a  few minutes.  We have probably an accident a year here (we have a particularly unsafe intersection up the road) and usually they're LOUD, so I was confused. Then, they picked up the bike. I was on the phone with DH, telling him about it and said, "Oh god, it was a cyclist."  This road is an official bike path, so the bikes are to be given right of way.  DH rides this road for maybe 100 feet before he gets off and HATES it.  People try to buzz him all the time.  The rest of his route is fairly bike friendly.
  • At least she was wearing a helmet, and people were helping her.  How awful.
