    jeebus...I've never buckled a baby in ever and I know there are shoulder straps.

    um, how do you NOT use the shoulder straps? It's not like they are separate from the leg straps or are hidden somehow.  Very weird.

    So their kid was just laying on the straps?  I don't understand how you don't see them there and at least wonder what they're for.

    Uhm, isn't this why they have the stupid baby classes at the hospital?They show you how to change a diaper and use a car seat, don't they?
