Wedding Woes

One last thing about towels.

I knew someone who was like that woman's MIL. She didn't replace the hand towel and washcloth, but she used two towels at each shower and after one use, they went into the hamper. Guests, regardless of their own normal towel usage, did the same. She was telling me that she realized she spent a ton of money on detergent, laundry related costs, but that she also bought a lot of towels because they wore out so fast. I'm as crazy as the next person, and I like to be clean. But taht goes above and beyond. She said she did it because after one use they smelled mildewy. Um, okay.

Was she folding them back up rather than letting them dry out?  Using a new towel every day is hugely wasteful.

Maybe that's the argument I need to use with DH.  Every shower gets a new towel.  Sometimes he showers twice a day.

I have no idea. She told me, I gave her a side-eye, and moved on. She knew it was sort of ridiculous but if she's okay with that sort of stupid, then so be it.

Apparently DH's family used a new towel for every bath when he was growing up. (I learned this when we were discussing towel bars for our new house and I realized they don't have any.)Seems highly odd to me, especially since they were (are) so unbelievably frugal.

my family growing up?This.Except in the summers when we lived in the wee RV, we never used a towel more than once.I had NO IDEA that other people didn't do it this way.But my first week at college?  yeah, that all changed.

Towels are an investment to me. I like to buy really expensive ones because they are used every day. I wash them about twice a week, and I am the weirdest person about cleanliness I know. This woman has me beat. Oh, and I agree with Nico Leg, her vagaine is probably the problem, not mildew.

FI's family is this way. It drives me nuts. Sometimes I hang them up until they're dry and then tell them they're clean (because they are, he only used them on his FRESH OUT OF THE SHOWER BODY). I'm evil.
