So how long will you wait to get preggo after you are married?

I may have asked this on this board awhile ago but we have so many new ladies :)  My BFF, my cousin who is my MOH and I just found out about 2 other very close friends of mine are all pregnant.  I have the itch so bad!!!  I wish I was getting married this summer to have a baby sooner!!!  I think having 4 very close people to me and chatting baby talk all of the time is a big contributer.  I am also throwing a baby shower for my cousin in 2 weeks so it's been on my mind a lot!

I will be 30 once we get married FI will be 31 the September after we are married and we already own a house so we both are on the same page with wanting to start next December.  We want to go on our honeymoon and then one more vacation between Christmas and NYE.  Which is when we will start trying.  Lol if I had it my way we would be having a honeymoon baby.  But it will be fun to go on one more vacation.

I can't wait to be a mom :)

  • Oh my gosh!

I am totally in the minority here.  FI and I are really against having kids for us personally.  I will be 26 and he will be 30 when we are married and we know that kids aren't for us.  We love our carefree lives that don't revolve around carpooling or soccer games or building college funds.  I know that there are some people who can't imagine their lives without kids but I have never felt that way, no motherly instinct and certainly no desire to ever be pregnant.

People who want kids are great but we don't and have made it really clear to our families.

There is nothing wrong with not wanting to have kids! =)
  • I agree with PP that said watch those 5 year plans. I have a son from a previous relationship and I said I would not have anymore children. I love kids but I only wanted one. Now here comes my knight and shinning armor and I'm having another baby with him hopefully on the honeymoon. (He doesn't have kids)

Make your 5 year plan in pencil not pen. LOL!

  • FI and I will both be 28 when we get married (he'll almost be 29). We both want kids for sure some day, but I don't think either of us feels ready anytime soon. We don't have an age in mind... it's just one of those things that I think we will just one day realize we are ready for.

I used to think I wanted kids around 28-29 (had it in my head that you need to start before 30), but now that I'm almost 27, I still don't feel even close to ready, lol. Maybe I am a late bloomer? haha

  • I have lived my life around timelines- mainly around school. 4 years undergrad, then I can get married, then 2 years of grad school, then we can buy a house, then work for at least a year or two to save money then have kids. FI loves kids and wants them right after we get married. So maybe somewhere i the middle- im ok with any time after grad school, which will be 2 years after we get married. I took want to travel though. I am currently in Italy right now. I will be here for 2 months and am loving it! So who knows- I guess life will take its course.
