Photobook Review

A friend of mine found this very thorough review of various photobook companies. It might be useful if you're thinking of doing one of these on your own. It's 15 pages long but here's the summary page:

http://www.digitalhomethoughts.com/news/show/97676/14/1/15

Cliffs notes:
50 pages or less: MPix or AdoramaPix
51+ pages, on a budget: Blurb or Inkubook (I know I've seen Blurb mentioned on boards here).
51+ pages, spending Gs: Photobook Canada or MyPublisher

Hmm interesting. MPix gets pretty spotty reviews for their press-printed products. I had been looking into them for my parent albums and decided against it. And MyPublisher's most expensive book starts at $60, so I don't put them into an "expensive" category really. I have a book from them and I wasn't impressed with the quality at all...I didn't even consider them for parent albums. And Shutterfly books are "average to excellent"? They're terrible! I dunno, the reviews seem kind of off to me.

Obviously no reflection on you! =) I'm going to look into some of the other ones mentioned that I don't know too much about so it's definitely helpful.

Sorry, I didn't mean to insult. I tend to be a little too picky on printing and paper. I've seen some very poor Shutterfly books, but perhaps the photo editing/color weren't great to start with.

The only one I've ever used was Qoop (they did Flickr's books back in the day) and it was somewhat disappointing. The reviewer definitely preferred AdoramaPix as far as quality over MPix. We may end up trying some of these out for e-pics in a few ... omg it's a few weeks now!

Interesting- I used MyPublisher- it was $46.99 for the 15x12 with upgraded paper and I think it's pretty good. The book has a nice weight and feel to it. The paper feels good and thick. There was only one picture that came out not as I was expecting it- I'm super pale and it's a dark photo so they warmed it up a bit and I look really tan. Oh well. Not a big deal. Everyone that has seen it raves over it. (but maybe it's just because they have no frame of reference. :)  I dunno)
