Sexist? Or Not?

I have to say, after they splashed Obama's Hawaii pictures all over the news magazines, I don't find this sexist as much as just inappropriate somehow.

I believe that actual picture is from Runner's World.  Hmmm.

It is, O-face.  It's from a photoshoot she did for them.

Probably because she knows people just want to make fun of her so she won't pose for anything else.

It's definitely inappropriate.  I don't think it's full-on sexist, but the pin-up style pose that makes me feel it's a little sexist.

You know, I just don't get the point of the photo. I think if Newsweek was trying for the racy angle, they could have found a better picture. That picture is just looks dumb.I think it is slightly sexist, but more dumb than anything else.

NOLA, I wondered that too.  What does a running photo have to do with solving/not solving problems or her as a problem. Bad picture/title pairing.

They're trying to discredit her by making her look ridiculous. Not that she's NOT ridiculous, mind, but that's probably why they're using this photo. It's inappropriate, and yes, it's a little sexist, but not anymore than everything else we see in a day, IMO.I'm most worried about that flag. That is NOT appropriate use of a flag, and did they burn it afterward? A little respect for flag etiquette, mkay, Ms. Palin?

BMom, you and I can see eye-to-eye on that nonsense.  I get incensed at flag images on t-shirts and things.  It really bothers me.  I also get bothered when I see flags that are being flown that are all raggedly and faded.I would love to see a flag burning ceremony (flag decommissioning ceremony?).  It seems like there was something in AZ where I might be able to see it and DH and I were both really excited about it.

I do think this is a bit of 'have your cake and eat it too'She wants to be able to say "look, I'm a sexy runner' and still be incensed when people see her as a sexy runner...the same way she wants to be able to say "look, I'm qualified because I'm a mom" and then be incensed when people say "uh, yeah, about that, mom...your family has issues"So I find her outrage redonkulous. However, I also find Newseek a bit redonkulous and annoying by playing into that.
